Based on past host comments about Park max capacity plus recent mention of 10 assistants directing everyone to an area therein, you should have no problem getting a camping spot.
I was there in '06 (10th anniversary) when attendance was at or nearly at record levels and there was still room. |

Attention those planning on camping out at Amboy crater on the way to Havasu Wed. night: Apparently route 66 from Ludlow to Amboy crater is closed. That, according to some folks who tried to make it out there this evening.
Plan B: Camping out at Joe and Jenn's in Joshua Tree Wed. evening and rolling out early Thurs morning via hwy 62 to Parker and on to Havasu. (Approx 3 1/2 hours). Love a good convoy?
Pm me if you're interested.
Joe
EDIT: Just got off the phone with CHP-Needles office- As of 11:45 am 1/14/15...
Rt. 66 IS open from Ludlow to Amboy to Kelbaker rd. Closed East of Kelbaker rd. to Essex to I-40.
Back to Plan A-Camping out at Amboy Crater tonight!!!
(Plan B cancelled. Maybe another time...?)
Joe.

Hey Bob.
Thanks for that. We'll see. It's a lot of driving in just 2 days.

Yea! It looks so warm and cozy, what was the low temps there? I can't wait to leave this frozen waste land and see moving water. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. CB 044 heads, AutoCraft rockers, chromoly push rods

My Thursday departure got foiled by a moron at the emissions place almost ripping the transmission out of my van, along with being called in to work. Now shooting for an early AM departure out of Phoenix....
Hoping to be on the road by 6am...hoping to make it there in one piece!! _________________ Heidi - KF7CKI

Camped out in Visalia, halfway from NorCal. With my grumpy cooling system and noisy fuel pump. Will be there tomorrow afternoon if I don't get lost in this pea soup fog. |

Failed.
Made it halfway and my cooling system rebelled. After a couple of hours the revolution was over with the system bled (?)
Didn't want to chance it in the Mojave, but irony will have it that I make it home without a hitch.
Oh well, in it goes to Stephan's Auto Haus on Thurs to hopefully get rid of my gremlins! |

Now that most everyone is home and at work I eagerly await the stories and pictures. Come on, there's only like six pictures in the gallery. _________________ Prosit!
