|
|
...After reading feedbacks and looking at pictures I'm scared to purchase a new narrow beam... Any suggestions on which company to use, many that I have seen have not had very good ratings lately, either by shipping, packaging, or cleanliness... I was looking for a 4" narrow beam with shock towers, Airkewld might be getting some of my money really soon.
Any advise would be great help, thanks in advance also _________________ Stupid people do stupid things. |

sam at autowerks. ads in the classifieds. he built the t1 into t3 conversion beam in my square.
there are some using inferior tubing and with scary welds. sam's are nice heavy DOM tubing with good clean welds...... _________________ ITMC

I have a machinist friend (and coworker) that's big into VWs and he builds everything completely awesome! He has a really nice shop at his house, you might have to make a trip to Las Vegas to pick one up though, hehe PM me if you want his phone number...he also has a Facebook page of his work _________________ 69 Beetle, 64 GMC 1000 (1/2 ton), 59 Ford Ranch Wagon (for the wife and kiddos), 92 Motorhome for vacationing. |

Its one thing to buy a beam. It's another thing to understand the geometry of everything you are altering to set it up. Getting a narrowed beam is the easy part. |

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I do have a question to Airkewld.
Your site says your adjusters have a wide range (up to 7" range I believe)? which is much more than the typical adjuster 3-4". My question is, how do you weld them in -- for all 7" drop from stock or somewhere in the middle for a range of dropping or raising from stock (in combo with dropped spindles)?
Thanks! |

If you install our adjusters at 15 degree past perpendicular, your car can be stock height and 7.5" down. If you rotate them more, you just loose adjustment with ball joint applications and the Link Pin applications get squirely. So if you are going with drop spindles and adjusters, I would keep it at 15 degrees, because ball joints can exceed their range of motion. Link pin can but stability comes into play. I hope this helps. _________________ TheSamba members-only discount - Samba24

Ok, yes great info! I actually meant how you weld them in for the beams you sell, not how should I weld your adjusters in (I can't weld, ha). It sounds like 15 degrees unless your customer specifies otherwise? Thank you. I appreciate it. |

The General Forum is for Non-Technical topics about VW's, so this thread is at an end.
There are countless threads about beams in the technical forums, and plenty of information about beam builders in the Feedback Forum. |
