I found a 1957 euro VW has semiphores, rolling chassis, basically taken apart, has new heater channels, new pans, body has been painted, no interior, but has all the glass except front windshield, has been rewired,no engine original rims , all fenders hood and trunk are original, original aprons . is it worth $2000 to $2500 or anywhere close.. ive never owned one this old before or went this indepth fixing one........ |

Welcome!
The first thing everyone is going to ask is for you to post up some photos, as it's not possible to give an accurate estimate without seeing what the car really looks like.
How much rust is there? Are the body panels straight? Is it the original chassis or has it been replaced with a later year pan? Has the dash been hacked? You mention it's been painted, but if it's been painted something like hot pink, it could actually count against it. How well were the heater channels replaced and are they correct for the year? When taken apart, were any of the parts misplaced along the way? How well was any body work completed? Too many variables.
If it's solid and straight and, like you said, has all the original body panels in decent, repairable shape, and it's sitting on the original floor pan, then it's quite possible it's worth that much. Just can't say for sure without seeing it.
Sorry…more questions than answers for you. |

hi Flipiseal!
2500$ for an oval window is not that much money these days, but i'll say check title and see if the body and chassis number matches
are you sure the fenders are original? the rear fenders should have ribbed flanges and the front fenders must have a cable conduit guide and two dots in the headlight bucket.
if you want the car stock original then be sure if the fenders are correct because original and period correct fenders are very hard to find and the prices are very high.
i have an oval that came with original 60 up fenders, it was a pain to find original oval fenders
btw the car deserves all the best
best regards |
