I used to have a July 1957 VW. chassis no- 159296x
Made 10 July 57.
Does anyone have a 57 close to that number and built 9-11 July?

| My '57 was built on July 9th and the VIN is #159714x. It was then delivered to Koln, Germany on July 10th. |

Built date in the BC is the day it passed last inspection before shipment, not the day it rolled out of the assembly line. If it had som quality issues, it would be pulled back. The cars went on the assembly line in numbered order, but it could be taken off the line if problems occured, and put back later.

That is good info. I thought it might be due to having multiple assembly lines.
