I am not aware of an adapter that will allow you to check the oil on a standard Type 1 case. I believe the type one dipstick is in accessible when the Type 3 fan shroud is installed. The adapters Bob found are for adapting a Type 3 or universal case to use a type 1 dipstick. I don't know if any of these will clear a the fan shroud on a type three.

He has a type 3 engine case, and is looking at converting the dip stick to a t-1 style due to a lack of clearance in his "sedan delivery" project.

Hey grandpa, I thought you had a type 3 motor in that project? I am with Notch on this the adapter will interfere with the fan housing, mount.

Have you looked at his project in the last couple of days? He's got a good chunk of t-3 load floor in place, and has already removed a 1.5 inch section out of the engine hatch, along with adjusting the rest of the floor to get it inside. Last I looked (earlier today), he was working on tieing in the "new floor to the bus walls. Twisted Evil He still had a gap between the bus rear door (narrowed), and the modified t-3 floor. That gap had a step in it too.

I had suggested it to him, as he might not have enough room for the oil filler and t-3 dipstick tube arrangement. Like he said himself, he wished he had the T-3 floor before he started, as he's about 8 inches short of getting things to fit back there (part of the reason for taking 1.5 inches out of the hatch). Shocked

Bobnotch ; I like your idea of indenting the new vertical rear plate to fit oil dipstick tube and cap

hey GP, no Bobnotch I had not noticed the latest build update. But I would agree it looks like an indented panel on the floor & an indent on the lid would give him his clearance for the dip stick. You have a great build on the go. I guess the next car you will save more of the sections until you finish the car. Wink Wink

If you turn it vertical you still have to indent it or it will be sticking up into the flat load floor? I have a black rubber mat on mine.

I think he is going to have to indent or be real creative with the tube fitment. you will probably have to adjust the length of the dip stick as well.

With it bolted to the engine case, I'd use an oxy torch, and get the tube cherry red, and bend it up. I only say have it on the engine, so you know how far you can actually take it (the cooling shroud will limit how far you can go).
