engine ident code?

finding conflicting info on my search. my engine case code is 288076. Any help on what exactly I have here. Thanks in advance.

Seems a bit short there horse, have you left out any letters at the start or a few more numbers? What did it come out of, or where did you get it? Is it a single relief case?

It's in my 70 bug. I,'ll double check the number tomorrow . How do I ident single relief cases. Another newbie.

A dual relief case looks like this:

A single relief case has only the rear relief.
