I came across this old kit car in a sad state of repair. I guess it has been sitting for years. Does anyone know what it is and if it is worth saving? Looks kind of cool but I have no idea what it is!

oh, that's where I left it. It's mine. Go ahead and just ship it to me and I'll get it out of your hair.
Ok, I lied. But it does look like something I wouldn't mind having. |

No idea, but it has definite Ferrari 250LM and Porsche 904 overtones.
If you have more pics, that would be nice... also, for older kit car (like pre-Meyers Manx) info, Forgotten Fiberglass http://www.forgottenfiberglass.com/ will be able to help more than we can in cases like this
Nice car, if you buy it, keep us posted! |

My first inclination is Devin, but they never had a rear body shape like that. I just went through most of my catalogs and found many that were close, but not quite. Being this is your first post, it might help to know where you're located. If this is in the UK, we may never know the manufacturer! |

Thanks for all the replies so far. The car is in Canada if that helps at all. |

Don't quote me on this but it looks a lot like an early Brazil based Puma. Lines look a little smoother however it could have been modded somewhat. I've always like this body style. Kind of a poor man's Porsche. Always wanted to do a Subie or rotary in this type body. |

All Puma's built from 1966 thru 1995 were Brazilian-built. It's not a Puma...
My first thought was 'Enzmann 506-ish' clone - this is not a kitcar body I recall seeing. May be 'market-specific', i.e. - something made in Canada.

Assuming I'm not mistaken, that looks like a 1957-64 Chrysler full-size standard windshield, so this must be a big car compared to a stock bug.
Can the OP fill us in on how big it is and/or get us more pics? I love these kinds of threads. |

Im 99% positive that its an APAL
Its a Porsche Abarth Carerra 356B GTL Replica...possibly made in Belgium.
And if I'm right... I wish I had half your luck...
Cheers! |

Might be a version of an APAL, but not the one that Budget posted - that one has different headlight bucket profiles, larger "hood" and no quarter window on the door. This one, though:
has a similar headlight bucket and quarter windows, but the hood is much larger.
*edit* actually, this car is no where near the car in question - too rounded, front isn't "flattened" and no overhang on the windshield.
This might be a Canadian kit that never came to the US. You might have to stop and talk to the owner! |

APAL made different kinds of Porsche kits. Back in 1998 there was one (like the red one in the link) that was in the Virgin Islands and I would have to assume that it was the only one in the Americas.
Granted the red one is different from the one in question...but APAL made Fiero rebodies as well as Formula Vees....and some pretty strange porsche looking buggies (APAL Corsa!)
The big reason I think its an APAL is because of the side windows (the air intake scoop thingies look very added on...)
Take a look at the windows...if its stamped "Belgium" on it somewhere...its more than likely an APAL.
Regardless...if effing cool as hell... |

This is absolutely not an APAL.
Windscreen, doors, windows do not match the original.
But I like the look of it. |
