been workin on it for a little, so thought id share with peeps..
Not mine but ill be building/helping to build it for a mate. 57 oval from inverell NSW swapped to a 58 pan for some reason, he's happy to run the 58pan anyway so that's good no need to find a oval pan.
Plans are, narrow n down, 40hp with a (eventual) Judson on it.
got the body off to go over it, all in all the body is in good shape with little rust work needed, the pan needs some holes patched.
Guards arrived for it.
Doin a 40hp for this one an hopefully find a Judson to match. I'd done the bottom of this a while back.
How fitting for a rat..
finally got into it a little..
pulling it apart to fix the pan
patches are welded in, the black panels had different pressings so not 100% right but he doesnt care. shit pic cause of night time
nice sight in the backyard
got my rotisserie ready to work on it
now for rust, small hole.....
got bigger
an bigger
damn u can keep chasing rust.. an thank god for grinders....
another one
an fixed
more to be cut but the midget was sleeping so not too much grinding n noise, so onto the beam.
ben bought a airkewld beam, not bad. but finally after 2 hours... cut, re dimple and assemble..
they made it hard with the design to do a simple job like cut n drill..
so numerous vice grips, hammer taps, align an re align, measure an measure again to get it right... headache by the end of it thats for sure.. im sure they have a easier way or even a jig to do it in..
windows are also ready to go in
all u do it cut an chase.. haha
got some paint on it..
Got the astro turf work bench out again for some magic.
Notched
New bushes
An dropped!!
Installed
Little more..
Stock.
Cut n retap
An done
Then got onto installing csp brakes, amazing they are. Def use them again, price is higher but worth it!
All torqued up.
Disc on.
calipers on, found a small problem tho.
bolts were fouling out on the ones on the discs, so shaved and good to go again.
added steering box, hooked up tie rods and away it went!!
beam was all finished so onto this, been putting it off..
after cutting, not so bad.
straight steel, good for folding and making it my bitch.
one side done, then ran out of the last of my gas. new bottle comin in the morn tho! yay
Little more 2day.
added NOS to the oval
fuckers wouldnt deliver cause ive moved house so i had to make do.
gettin into the worst part on it. matching the bends and folds was tricky n had to weld from the inside cause of limited space with the heater pipes.
an bottom of channel, was goin to put pressings back in but got over it, too time consuming for something noone will ever see.
an done...
little more again..
under tank
this was under the drivers rear guard, had torn away from firewall and had split the steel for some reason, so the po put tar over it. smart move..
so plug weld it back together n weld up...
an done
rear apron was bent n fucked, pics dont show how bad tho.
gettin there
done.. its solid again. not perfect, but thats the point.
best thing is pass side sill is solid!!
There was a primered set of taillight housings with all the stash an 2 rusty ones, one been squashed too. the primer wouldn't of matched the car so needed to fix what he had so it looked the part.
Still needs a little more in places but is actually useable again.
still need to make up another tool, (thanks jaison) to sort out the grill but got the majority of the crease sorted out..
gives u an indication of what it looked like.
so..... brought out the big guns..
holden cruze jack....
and, out it comes..
little hammer n dolly work
little more work.
decklid lines up ok, still needs some tweaking to get it right tho.
finally got into doin some work to it
makeshift work bench
pin holes after blasting
filled
underside coated in kbs sealer
waited till dry, then did the top
all done..
now using some eskys as workhorses..
had to re-tap all threads from the kbs in the threads.
even re-tapped the cradle thread.. bastard wouldnt let the bolt go in!
bit on it done.
shocks n beam all sorted.
brakes, handbrakes n hubs on
found some nuts, then pinch n roll!
h/brake on.
Gear rod n stick on, og patina on the shaft for u nafe!
Selects all gears so far, but won't know how good the box is till it's running.
Pedals on, clutch n accel cable workin.

Brakes plumbed in, def missing the rear flexible ones so no brakes till they arrive
Steering bush, the red circle of death was mentioned an said they look good, but I soon put an end to that an got rubber!
handbrake adjusted, all threads retapped, couple of rubbers installed an its ready! (still waiting on brake bits)
so out the back it goes, one step closer to on the road..
engine is next, order has been put through for bits for it, only a 40hp for now, hes not big on speed so hes happy with that.
engine starts this week!!!! _________________ shiny paint doesnt make it worth any more |

Thanks mate, part of the fun is the obstacles of rust an dings an how to fix them. He's not fussed on og pressings and originality so it saves a bit of time an work there to make up the panel. _________________ shiny paint doesnt make it worth any more |

looking good dion.
have you had the engine in the car? I think there might be clearance issues with the lower firewall area and the fresh air heaterboxes. |

Ahhhh... The simple things like Re-dimple a set of springs... so simple to do, yet, so impossible to explain...
Nice work BTW... _________________ ::: Slowoval ::: LaDawri Sebring ::: '61 Creampuff ::: Dust Storm '66 ::: |

after crashing the ute into a fence, lomg story, dont ask.
finally got the body sitting on the chassis.
its not bolted on, but just sitting there for now since its raining all wknd an i need to work on it, so the shed it goes..
found the tie rod fouls on the shock too. so a quick steer will be made for it i think.
back off cause i had a wash to clean the surfaces
just to sort out final bits, little rust cutting on the channel bottom.
an also to make these
be able to bolt the front down now...
but got some penetrol onto the bottom, basically soaked it in the shit...
when thats dried it will be penetroled all over.. then back to the pan.... _________________ shiny paint doesnt make it worth any more |

so, after the under side was dry, a good scrub of everywhere else was in order, waited till it was dry
then...
so close to body back on an bolted down now.. _________________ shiny paint doesnt make it worth any more |

got an early mark from work 2day, so got stuck into it.
wiring in, just need to hook it all up.
empty roundup containers make for a good helper! frustrating lifting and moving it yourself but u tend to make do with what u got..
finalizing the seal an bolt holes..
do you?
yes.
do you?
yes.
good, by the power invested in me, your married!!
i had a thought on lining up the front 4..
insert threaded rod
drop body on pan and hold them down tight.
pull one rod, insert bolt.
have it so it has a little pressure on it, then pull the other rod an inset other bolt!
simple!!
5 mins for both sides! ive battled previous ones for ages. best idea ever!! haha
windows are now in too...
mmmmmm mossy
