|
|
Finally got her home to the cave.
Original almost untouched 63 RHD Notch with, i think original motor.
Been stood in garages for 30ish years.
Mostly complete but needs total rebuild including RH heater channel/rocker.
More pix in the gallery
Hood appears to have been replaced or had a tache fitted at some time and PO powder coated wheels and fit new tyres but otherwise pretty stock
Will be a long resto back to stock this time. |

Hi Everett
Dont know what the relay is as yet, may be something to do with the start circuit as the switch appears to be a bit dodgy.
Theres also another relay under the front hood, again a guess suggests the spot lamps. Would they be dealer installed? As ive seen similar installations on other early cars.
Will have to chase out the wiring for a final answer.
The motor appears to be seized, not got any further with why as yet. |

Started stripping the interior, orignal tarboards
Paper under battery

Left side is ok though
Seat date sticker
Got me wondering if this is one of or the earliest known surviving RHD Notches? anyone know better. |

Hi Mark
Yes it does have a C registration ie 65, but the chassis number/VIN plate shows March 63 (0169925).
Must have been registered elsewhere first i guess.
Maybe one day i will find out. |

Here it is once again
Rot below RH C pillar
After wing removal, not too bad actually
Rear channel area
Usual front channel corner rot
Again not too bad
Front bumper mount bolts came out easily
You can tell its stood a while in damp conditions, pan appears to have only a couple of small holes near the jack points, Heat exchangers are salvageable, muffler though is long gone
Any other brits on here as old as me, remember Safer Motoring magazines Friendly Drivers Club. Think I had a 100,000 mile placard from them back in the early 80's. |

Yes, long term rebuild to stock, body will have to be removed unfortunately, would love to keep the patina but think its beyond that.
I'm amazed how good it is after 20 years of british roads and then 30 years of damp garage conditions. Just shows how well early type 3's were put together, compared to later ones. |

If you cut out the bad 1/2 pans First it makes it much easier to repair the inner fenders etc with the body still on the pan. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

Cheers for that Mike, pans are pretty good so may not have to replace just some small repairs hopefully, although you never know till its in bits. |
