What's up Jax's, since I already had the column and only the shaft broke, replacing the whole shaft was only going to be about $75 if I remember correctly. I also remember being completely uncertain of the exact length that I needed so when we were able to weld this one we just went with it.

Jeff - anybody... Why would this collapsible section break in a buggy and not in a production car? (perhaps there's a history..) Maybe there's a 'prevent'. Thanks.

45 year old pot metal maybe? That and maybe not 100% properly aligned. Make sure there is minimal pressure on the shaft and there should be no problem.
