Ran into this guy at the last rest stop in NJ on the GSP heading north. He was heading home after the trailbash & we were heading to Norwalk Ct. Porsche show. Small world & cool to see us pull in at the same time. Said he stayed at the Motel Pickens.

Awesome time at my first trail bash, just got home, 13 hours and a million dollars in tolls.....
A big shout out to Bill for the BBQ and John an Ann for their hospitality.
Great meeting all the new faces, Jim, Tom, Dave, Bill, Stan, Todd and the others I can't remember.
Great seeing all the familiar faces
I want to thank you for saving me the best seat ever for the trail bash. The sunroof panel was a sick ride.

I'm pretty sure every post could start with a pic of Matt slugging gas into the Sunroof panel

great times everyone! great to see everyone that made it. it was a small turnout but as me, matt and JDOT always say "if it was just the three of us, we'd have an awesome time". the more the merrier. big shout out to paul and reggie for making the trip. it always blows me a way that people will drive such distances for this humble offroading event.
thanks to the sills for once again hosting the FUQU-Q. i hope your neighbors enjoyed it as much as we all did. my personal favorite moments of the FUQU-Q was talking about nude beaches whilst eating sausage and peppers whilst the children played amongst themselves.
more thanks to the pickenez's for having us all there, the awesome pulled pork, slaw and baked beans, tom's peanut chicken, the poolside joke session.
Rojito had a great time. as soon as we got done with what we had to do today, he gathered up some of his hotwheels buses, headed over to the mudpuddle he dug and played "trailbash" until dinner time.
can't wait til trailbash X. holy shit, where has the time gone? _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

Loads of fun, once again. Thanks to everyone who has a hand in putting on this weekend. Every year literally laugh like a little school girl all weekend until I cry. And once again I’m reminded, it’s really all about the people, not the busses.
Bill, sorry I couldn’t make the FU-Q; but in the end, I think the last minute thrashing on the panel was worth it to get it on the trails. Which leads me back to the build thread contained within this thread.
The roofless panel. Loved driving it. Big shout out to anyone that helped put it together or lent, gave or sold us parts. Super big shout out to Gibbs, Glenn and Kris. I owe you all a sandwich, or a day working on your bus. Your pick.
So today I had the SPVC summer intern go deep into our archives and pull these pictures. Some “as found” shots of the junkyard where it lived for many years outside of St. Charles Missouri. There are so few pictures because when we got there, and even more so when we left; we were delusional with 20 hours of road time behind us.
See how the roofline is at the same height as that other van's door handle?
Can you spot the UZi in his native habitat? He's probably taking a crap.
We still have that license plate. It really needs to get back on the bus.
We literally dug out this bumper with our fingers and a screw driver. Bus was sunk in the dirt up to about the middle of the rib on the bumper.
And finally on our way out, all the parts we pulled, only to put them back on years later.
And as it finally arrived in Philly:
Quick, name 5 things in the "as found pics" that are not in the "arriving in Philly" pics.
As soon as I find the video of it swinging from the rafters to get it off the trailer, I'll post that too. Good times.
And as for my post-Trailbash Sunday, well I got back to the shop and dropped off the roofless panel then went home and showered. Then sat and coughed up about 3 quarts of inhaled 30 year old junkyard dirt and beehives. But I said fuk it and ran out to make a hit on a stash. The SPVC never sleeps.
So why the hell not a bus hunting thread mini post within this thread like the mini build. Ended up rooting through some stank ass barn and basement. Now, I can officially not breathe. There is more to come; but here’s a hint of what I ended up with:

Thanks to all who came out to the 'Q and the bash. It was a great time. The kids had fun. And we have plenty of room for more busses!
I don't know if I have the proper words to express the excitement and happiness I felt as I pulled into the rear compound at the Pickens' ranch and saw the Missouri panel there. Major props to all who made that happen. Someone has to find the Fordyce family and let them know! _________________ I will never lie, but sometimes the truth changes.

Another year, another awesome Trailbash !
Great to see the familiar faces again, and as always, great to see some new blood out on the trails
Thanks again to the Pickens' and the Sills' for hosting all of us.
Also a big thanks to Bill, Kris, and John for letting me ride shotgun this year.
I had a blast as always.
Matt and everyone involved with getting the Missouri panel ready for this years event really deserve a round of applause.
That was no small feat getting that bus bash-ready, and watching the courageous few that braved the cargo area grasping that roof rack for dear life around the playground was just priceless ! _________________ Drive your VW... That's what it was made for.
