I found this bus late last summer in the high desert of So. Cal. Struck a deal with the owner and brought her home! This bus had been sitting for close to twenty years out there. It's an early 67, august or september (no reverse lights) walkthrough kombi camper.

I call that decent. That is a nice score plus the '67 bus is a good one for all the last greatest improvments. I totally love it. |

Nice score! The only thing I really don't like on the 67s is the ugly rear hatch latch on the outside! The 66 style is much cleaner looking! |

No doubt, at least it didn't come with reverse lights! I really wanted an earlier bus but this one was 7 miles from home and it has grown on me. My dog loves the walkthrough too!More to follow, this bus is cleaning up nicely. |

After getting the bus home and cleaning out a majority of the nasty stuff inside left by the previous occupants (mice) I put her in the garage out of the hot desert sun after years baking in it. I started to carefully buff out the nose too, og paint shines up real nice.
Brakes were junk so I went after that right away. I knew the bus had a little rust, outer cargo rocker, bottom of cargo doors & a couple small holes in the front floor. I was happy to see the rest of floors were nice.
Plan is to get her back on the road and enjoy as a kombi for awhile. |

Did you find this bus in Adelanto off of the 395? |

No, this bus was hiding out far from any highway or paved roads. I might know of the one you are referring to though. |

I love the way the closet door interfaces with the vertical trim. |

The one I'm talking about was off of Highway 395 back in the Summer of '09. OG paint pearl white with louvered windows if my memory serves me right. I saw it as I was driving a U-Haul up to Bishop and back. Wasn't there the next time I drove through that area a year later. Not sure what happen to it.
Either way- nice bus and I wish you best of luck getting it back on the road and happy travels in it! |

After going through the brakes, new axle seals, clutch cable, tie rods, drag link, center pin etc. I felt pretty good about driving my new ride. I've owned and daily driven bugs throughout my life, but buses are sooo different and fun!
The original paint shines up decent, at least it's not all chalky any more. Replaced the over-cooked fried eggs for some cleaner ones and added a roof rack.

Dang! That looks great. I see you found some over-riders for the front bumper too. That was quite a rust free find....enjoy! _________________

Thanks for the kind words, I really enjoy working on and learning all things bus. A few more of the inside after cleaning it up a bit. This bus was a camper since new from what I can tell, all the paneling is dated 3-25-66 on the back side.
Did I mention how much my boy loves this bus! He's always eager for a ride!
Pulled motor, fixed oil leaks, cleaned gas tank. There was tons of silt in here from years in the desert. Mini sand dunes behind the gas tank.

Dang that looks like original salt-and-pepper seat covers. What a privileged dog butt. How many miles did it have showing? Buff paint job! |

Those are the seat covers from Wolflsburg West, the originals were under a re-cover but not much left of them. The WW covers are a great match though. The mileage shows 65,000 but i'm pretty sure it's 165,000. My dog will sit there for hours and wait while I work on his bus! |
