It looks fantastic! Very clean work there. Nice choice on the bay westy fabric.

The original paint shines up decent, at least it's not all chalky any more. Replaced the over-cooked fried eggs for some cleaner ones and added a roof rack.

I don't know if you kept the original turn signal lenses but mine looked just like yours. I was able to bring them back with a dremel with the felt buffer atttachements and some of this:
It's great stuff. _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust."

Thanks stuco! I"ve been watching your thread on the westy, very nice bus. The turn signals were faded and the chrome stuff gone. I had this extra set which were better but not brand new looking to match the bus. I haven't tried that product but I use 3m polish on tail light lenses and other bits, it works good. |

Im a hard core Westy guy. But this restored interior is awesome to see turn out so nice on an equally nice og bus.
You did do a real nice job. Ive never been a big fan of that type of panel treatment in a camper. But everytime I see it, it reminds me of growing up in San Diego as a kid. Lots of good memories involved in friends homes styled with that (lovingly) ugly panel.
Thanks for restoring it to what it was. Good to see something other than a Westfalia being restored. _________________

Thank you Jason, funny that paneling reminds me of being a kid too. We had a house with a den covered in that stuff! Although I made some changes to the interior, I wanted to keep it close to what it was w/out going insane trying to do so.. There's still a list of things to do including the tent/awning. |

Thanks! Which westy project? You were more correct than ever when you said I was on the scent of the campers lately, seems to be all I can find..

Thanks, it does smell much more inviting now! That is indeed a drain, it empties through a tube behind the ice box and out the bottom of the bus. Another tube allows the dry ice tray to drain also. |

^^^^ Thanks for your replies everyone, glad to inspire someone as many here have inspired me too. Just wanted to put a before pic for some comparison.
Curtains and other trinkets coming soon. I ran short on the plaid material (kindly donated by a buddy) so I ordered 2 yds so I can get the rear pad over the engine and spare tire cover finished soon. The plaid is from Bus Depot. |

Cleaned the screens and re-installed:
Finished up the main table and installed:
I went with this set up for a table leg/reciever:
Camping necessities:
Chillin':
I had a set-back regarding the plaid fabric. It seems the stuff I got from my friend was an earlier run of the bay plaid. The new stuff (which I thought was the same) is not... It is almost identical under certain light but when I looked at them with polarized sunglasses they're much different. More on that later... |

Be careful with the crankouts on the cargo doors. It's easy to forget the windows are out when you open the doors. _________________ Judy

No doubt, I almost ripped one off the driver's side pulling out of the garage and forgot it was open!
I had installed a matching hehr window in the closet location awhile back thinking it would look nicer with all six windows being the same.. not sure if I should leave it or go back to the stock pop-out. Any thoughts or opinions??
Here are the conflicting re-pop bay plaids. The more brown one is the stuff I got from a friend but ran short. I think this was from at least 4-5 years back when he ordered it.
and this is what I ordered to finish the rear bed cushion and spare cover
The new stuff is a much tighter weave and has more green in it. I did not notice it until I looked at it with sunglasses on in the daylight. The camera also picks up the difference a lot. Sooo, I ordered more of the "new" fabric and will be re-doing the folding couch/bed, spare cover and seat behind driver.

I'd vote for the hehr window in the closet position! That interior refurbish is amazing man. Great work on this bus. _________________ Eric - 1966 camper bus

I replaced my closet pop-out with a stationary. Seemed like it'd be less trouble. _________________ Judy

I vote stationary as well since it's in the closet. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |
