The Porsche 944 fog light switch p/n 944 613 111 00 is a great option that fits exactly like the stock switch and comes with built in back lighting.
For 86-91 vans, pull power from the "P" connector terminals on the left side of the fuse block.
For standard 55w bulbs, a relay is not an absolute necessity, but it will protect the switch and ensure that you are getting as much power to the bulbs as possible.
Pull the power supply wires for the fog lights out through the stock grommet for the headlight wires. A long zip tie works great to pull the wires out from the cab. _________________ Jay Brown

Installed these recently. They came off of my 85 Shelby Charger I had after graduating high school ( and my wife says I hold on to things?) They are even Bosch and I used the rear defroster switch. The defrpster was disconnected some time ago by the PO and considering I dont drive the van after October it was a perfect fit.
Pretty sweet and they are of the correct era. We have used them on all trips this summer and what a huge improvment. _________________ 82 Westy: Air is cool! |

I've got some Hella 4000's that are pretty great. Mounted way too far out to the sides though.

One way is to run them up behind the driver side headlight assembly and through the firewall where the rest of the wiring harness runs. You will have to remove the headlight assembly (four screws and then disconnect the light plugs) first. |

Im surprised no one has mentioned Light Force, have them on my Toyota Hilux and they are amazing!
The choice of long haul trucks on the Alcan, hands down.

Just a quick glance at their line up and they don't seem to offer a fog lamp. Just distance type beams? _________________ 1987 2WD Wolfsburg Vanagon Weekender "Mango", two fully locked 80 Series LandCruisers. 2017 Subaru Outback boxer. 1990 Audi 90 Quattro 20V with rear locking differential, 1990 burgundy parts Vanagon. 1984 Porsche 944, 1988 Toyota Supra 5 speed targa, 2002 BMW 325iX, 1982 Toyota Sunrader |

I have had Lightforce 140s on my truck and 170s on my van for years They are deep enough that they overhang the front bumper which doesn't make me really happy but they haven't ever let me down.
I used to run Cibie Oscar Plus lights that fit behind the bumper face nicely and projected a good amount of light but after a near miss getting broken by a rock I changed from a glass lens type light for a polycarbonate light.
Doug they sell different lens covers that can change the beam to flood, combo or dispersed if so desired along with a few different colors. |

Yeah, I saw the covers and noted they could alter the beam slightly. But they did not even try to represent that they could make the beam into a sharply cutoff true fog beam. I think fog beams are what the OP is looking for. LightForce has a great reputation, but this is the first time I've looked at them and realized they don't offer fog lamps. Interesting.
Wow - the Cibie lights are legendary. I too am concerned about vulnerability of the full size Hella 4000s I am planning to mount. I have been unable to come up with a mounting strategy to avoid that vulnerability, so I am slowly coming to the conclusion I will just have to bolt them on and drive the van. Can't have everything perfect, I guess.
