So I've been eye balling this Bug I see around town and parked at Jack in the Box all the time. My better half tells me to keep driving when I see it I can't blame her cause I'm a horder. Anyway I see an ad on craigslist for a 1961 Bug trade. I click it and there is the same Bug. I contacted the kid and said I would trade my 1979 International Scout. We met up, Test drove the vehicles and struck the deal. My Gal liked the Scout better and was not as happy as I was. Anyway, Going to go through it and make it my 2nd daily driver. Enjoy my Journey with me.
Has to be lowered right after the mechanical is good to go.
It's a shame someone started stripping the fender.
Need to fix this right away.
Not familiar with this relay, What's it out of? Need to clean up the wiring.
I wonder why it had a bad exhaust leak? When I test drove it and the clutch was way out of adjustment. Fixed both of those 20 min after owning it.
Interior shot.
The brakes worked during the test drive but later I found the reservoir was bone dry!
Someone replaced all the door rubber, felt, and scrapers which is great. I also got a big box of new parts. I have some 135's I'll put on the front and I have a lowered beam I've been hoarding. _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

Ok I found the brake fluid leak but I'll explain the whole picture. This is super rare, A dual circuit master cylinder with one brake light switch wired up. It has two 1/2" lines to a t fitting which then utilizes a small chunk of the proper hose which then goes to a plastic Apple's to oranges conversion nipple so you can hook up the 3/8" piece of fuel line. Then there is a hard line with no clamp that goes to another piece of fuel line with no clamp that is leaking and then runs to the single circuit master cylinder reservoir. Did you catch all that? _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

Does it have inside rear window blinds or a louvered exterior shade?
If it has the interior ones and they are the GOOD blinds, not some fab'd up home blinds , they are worth some coin.

It's an interior blind but it looks too nice to be original, Must be a reproduction. I'll get a better pic. _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

Nice score! At least yours has the correct tail lights. What's wrong with the midwest? Both my DC and the bug I just bought have later model tail lights in them. _________________ Anthony

Well parts stores around here don't have the hose I need that's resistant to brake fluid. So I ordered some on line and a dual circuit reservoir. Still got some nick nack things to do but My son graduates high school on Monday and I have family in town. So I can't work on it, I'm glad my son is not a car guy so I don't have to fight him for it. _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

I don't think the PO knew about the brake lines under there he only owned it a short time. The guy he got it from was a military member that transferred and couldn't take it with him. Some people in town said they have seen my scout around town that I traded him. He tore the top off and is enjoying the summer. I still miss that old Scout. _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

exactly, & if the car gets lowered or you change the tire widths it's best to add a proportioning valve and set the brakes up in a wet parking lot. |
