if your sure the pistons are out that far I would of sent them back. go for the longer rod&stack the cyl shims to get what you think you want.or stack them to get what you need. and rarely are the shims what they say they are.so..... a .060 may be a .065 witch will work just fine for a .070". |

Swap pistons around, see if deck measurement moves with the piston. Was the case decked? I had similar DH with 92 thick wall cylinders, my situation was worse because one side was .010 more than the other. I had the case decked .020 on one side and .010 on the other.

I've checked my jugs and they are within a .003 of each other. I'm just gonna pull the pistons and measure them at work with a calibrated heigth gauge on an inspection table.
As for the case, it appears that the deck was cut when they machined it for 94's. After inspecting the pistons, I'll check the rods, then if I haven;t found my .015 variance, I'll split the case and check it's deck. fun fun
If it's the pistons, I cant send them back. I bought them from an individual. _________________ Ms Hoover, I glued my head to my shoulder.

Measured my pistons. They are within .001 of each other. The problem is my rods. My #2 rod (which is the variant deck height) is .017 shorter than the rest.
So, if I buy the 5.5" rods and use spacers, I need a .070 shim to get my desired .040 deck height (currently at .070 without shims), but no one sells a .070 shim.
Can I use 2 shims? maybe a .040 and .030? _________________ Ms Hoover, I glued my head to my shoulder.

So I put the Scat pro-street 1.25-1 rocker assembly on my new heads to start checking geometry. I started at zero shims just to see where it is at. It definately will need some shims. Now I cant get the stupid things off. Don't know what I did to get them stuck, but they will not come off. I've tried everything. I'm so pissed, I tried prying at the blocks and the block snapped. I still ant get the damn things off. AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Yes, the nuts are off.
Any ideas? I'm ready to start swingin a sledge hammer at it.
edit - pro-street rockers, not pro-comp. _________________ Ms Hoover, I glued my head to my shoulder.

I've done that. I also snapped the rocker block in frustration. Double-nut the stud and back it out, replace with another stud. You probably put the shafts on the wrong way, that was my problem.

Your fix is right. Double nutted jam nuts. Sucks diving 13 miles round trip to buy 80 cents worth of nuts, but it worked.
What I did wrong was I didn't tighten the studs down. Only finger tight. Oops. I hope a replacement block isnt hard to get. _________________ Ms Hoover, I glued my head to my shoulder.

What is the correct way to seat the rocker arm studs into the head? Double nut and tighten with a torque wrench? If so ,how much torque?
Also, would I be safe to use the mounting block from a stock rocker assy in place of the one I broke?
Thanks _________________ Ms Hoover, I glued my head to my shoulder.
