I want to install a dual circuit MC where do my metal lines go into my new dual circuit MC. I have one metal going underneath the OG MC rear and then the one left and one right of MC for the front.

On the dual. One of the three holes is bigger.

Left side, large orifices: for brake light switches.
Right side, small orifices: for brake lines.
To make up the new hard line(s) you now need, straighten out two coat hangers, and bend them both to the shape that fits your ports and mounts; smooth bends and enough straight length at the ends to ensure they will thread into their ports properly. Then straighten out one of them and take it to the store. Have them select or make up a VW-style double flare line to the length of your straight coat hanger. Then carefully bend the new line to the shape of the other coat hanger. It will now pop right in and fit like a glove. |

Thanks. So on my master I have large orifice on right back and one on front facing forward like my OG one. Orifices on right side are both small
Would two on right side be front?

Can you post a pic of your left side?
That layout is weird unless I'm confused.
To add/remove confusion, here's a pic of my original early '71 master:

Going off his pics from the above posts, I'd say his front circuit brake light switch location is on the end of the master cylinder. In this case, the left side rear is the rear switch location. The port on the right rear, is for the rear brake line, while both sides up front are for the right and left brake lines. I believe Jim Adney say this a made in Japan "style" master cylinder. I had one of these on my 71 Notch when I got it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I thought that at first, but that might conflict with the idea of the small ports being on the brake lines to enable bleeding, while keeping the large orifices for the switches. So I figured something else was at work and want pics of both sides to see all ports. But your answer is my current guess, sight unseen. |

I agree 100% with Bob's diagnosis. |

It's a real PITA. I'm not sure just what your line geometry is/needs to be, but you might consider a female-female adapter block and a short line to the master as an alternative. |

Was hoping you would say there was another way. Thank you. I think I will look for the adaptor and try it that way. |

It can be. I've gotten into a habit of doing it as a 2 piece line with a metric coupler in the middle. This allows you to feed 1 line to the rear "T" block, and another to the master cylinder and then just couple the 2 together. Any excess line can be put in the area under the rear seat.
I think you need something like 90 inches of tubing total. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

A friend did just this years ago in his bug, and it worked great. Choose lengths carefully so the union in the passenger compartment is in a good spot, perhaps under the rear seat. |

Any one have an extra master cylinder push rod. The one I had was the short one. From reading here think it will need the longer one. |

Is Ate the brand that works with type 3 master cylinder. Is there another cost effective brand anyone uses. That is for dual disk brake master |

ATE is the preferred German original. There may be a chinese equivalent but all of them need to be taken apart and cleaned out. The bus Chinese brand really need to be re-honed straight out of the brand new box
I sense what you are getting at. They are somewhat expensive. Welcome to type 3's. It's worth it to buy the right part, and go through it before install. Peace of mind. I would check the classifieds here, as well as eBay and even Germany eBay. You can buy rebuild kits as well, and even send yours out for rebuild. _________________ Stop dead photo links!
