|
|
Hey all I am finally close to getting my car up and running. As I am reconnecting all the wires I have run into one that is near the heater fan that is black with violet dots. It has a plastic connector on it. Unfortunately that one thing disconnect ed before I forced myself to take pictures. Where does this connect? When I get home I will post a picture. Thanks. _________________ 1982 Westy, 1974 412 Variant... Yes, Aircooled's are great! Oh and I do have modern computer controlled vehicles too, but I just don't care about them. |

here is the picture. Did the 412 come with rear fog lights or was this something that needed to be requested? I am not sure where I would connect it if it is connected anywhere.

The original wiring harness included that wire. Tape up the end of it until needed. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

It probably wasn't- a rear fog light is a German TuV mandated feature. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Its for the AC compressor. After a certain point VW was including them in the factory harness. You will generally find that it terminates under the dash in a T-1 connector attched to nothing.
In the three cars I have had with dealer installed AC...the black wire with purple dash lines in the area you note was attached to the AC compressor clutch.
OK....I have just violated my self impossed 15 minute per week limit on the forums. I hope it helps. I will be back on a regular basis hopefully by summers end.
But at least I am getting some things done....miss you guys! Ray |

Ray thanks. That was one thing holding me back. Hopefully I will have my 412 running this weekend for the first time in a few years. It is also nice to know it is prewired for AC that is on my list for next year. _________________ 1982 Westy, 1974 412 Variant... Yes, Aircooled's are great!
