|
|
Hey, so I've searched and I can't find ANYONE! running the wheels I want.
I have a 1970 Ghia that is pretty slammed in the front (stock width adjustable beam and spindles). It's about 2 inches off the ground. I have hardly any turning radius, but am planning on fixing that this summer (3 or 4 inch beam).
Stock wheels are 46mm offset according to this thread (half way down)

I would like to run these wheels. The're pretty cool, and no one else does.
Specs: 15x5.5 4x130 17 mm insett (the same as a + offset).

Question is, could I run a 3 or 4 inch beam with spindles pretty low and have pretty little fender rub? ( I was thinking 165ish tires).
Any thoughts and or experience would be appreciated!!!

The 5.5" will fit pretty well! You won't know about your beam width/how low/tires etc until you buy the wheels & finish engineering your suspension, but I would guess 2" narrowed would be plenty. Go for the gray & don't paint them! _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

your issue wont really be the front. That can be corrected with a narrowed beam. Your issue will be the rear. Offset is way to low. Will require you to buy narrowed IRS rear spring-plates. So factor that expense in to your budget. |

It's not the spring plates that are narrowed; it's the trailing arms. You will need shorter axles as well. If you narrow the trailing arms 26mm (1"), the shorter auto type 3 (driver's side?) axles are the right length. I've heard of someone narrowing their trailing arms 30mm and modifying some Empi replacement shorter type 3 axles to work. Hope this helps. you are correct it is the trailing arms, I knew it didn't sound right when I typed it. But yes they will be needed. Otherwise the wheels will stick out a good .5-1 inch from rear fender.... |

Well that's too bad. But ok. Where do I go to get narrow trailing arms? Can I also get them with a degree or two of negative camber to pull the top of the wheel in?
Thanks
