Looks like you're missing #'s 4(one per side) 5,6,7,8,8a, 8b, 26, and 29....
From what that engine pic you posted shows...
Did you say the engine builder kept/lost the tins??
These are the same as any type 1 tin.. Shouldn't be hard to find. _________________ '74 Thing, "Our Thing"....

the 2 china pieces replace #4 but if the number 4 pieces are not there you have to remove the heads to replace them or to install the china pieces. to install #26 you will have to remove the front pulley and cut and modify the sheet metal because of the oil line that has been added in the front. number 29 is not used on the thing engine 8a and 8b is used on a 73 engine a 74 engine has heater boxes |

sorry I did not see the adjustable tubes you only need to remove the pushrod tubes to install the china parts or to install the original tin under the cylinders they just distribute the air better around the cylinders the stock ones work find the china style was used on some type 3 engines also you will need to mount a oil filter somewhere so you can run a hose from the oil pump to the block. |

OK great, citroen you are the man , no need for sorry. Thanks for the info , I wish I knew half the stuff you know on these things, any time you want to come by would be great.
I've got the remote oil fill mounted on the left side already, so I should be good with that,, it's this tin that's giving me fits.
If anyone has the tin I need in good shape I will pay. Or if you can point me in the right direction where to get it, I would appreciate it.. |

Thanks for clarifying on 8A/B, Dennis.... I couldnt recall those on mine, but dont have it here to reference....
Only spare tin I have is an original breastplate(with heat riser and heater tube hose holes)... I have a speed shop semi-close(50 miles) that will have everything you need, used.. he has Very fair prices..
Shall I inquire and see what I can get for ya? |

Anyway to get that piece in with out removing the tubes? ? Is that the only piece that I will have to take stuff off the motor to get the tin on?, except the pully, . This is what I get for having a dune buggy builder build my engine.
Hey thanks for that pic. It helps . All comments, info ,ideas ,thoughts ,welcome.
Or if you just want to bash me, I can take it. |

Hey thanks for the pictures, do you think there's anyway of installing either one of those two tins pieces without removing the push rod tubes?? Maybe with a little modification to the tin?? Maybe cut the type 3 style in half and slide them in, with out removing the tubes?? |

I have seen the stock #4s with the locking tabs bent down or cut off so the tin can slide in above the tubes, then held in place with safety wire around the cylinders, but that would not be ideal.
I can't tell for sure on you gold pushrod tubes if they are two piece. If so, you could do as citroen said and remove the pushrods and tubes, insert the tin, then reinstall your pushrod tubes and push rods. Heads can stay put. _________________ Michael
