the front cargo door looks like it hosted a pull out table at what time, the rear cargo door looks like it had a spice rack
here are the trim levels as per the tech section
A42 SO-42 Westfalia interior, no exterior fitments
B42 SO-42 Westfalia interior, pop-up top, side tent, and roof rack
C42 SO-42 Westfalia interior, pop-up top |

Cool, so it's looking like an so-42. I may need to sell everything I own so I can piece this interior back together! At least I can live in it when it's finished! |

It is looking like a "C" SO42 but hard to tell given that the mcode makes no mention of it, so it is a bit of an educated guess based on the remenants that have been left behind. You could probably be legitimately upgarde to a "B" SO42 and nobody would be the wiser if you like roofracks and side tents. Then again those are not cheap items to find so might want to think twice about that |

I think the riveted tent rails where early on ? My German delivered 1966 SO 42 ( M-plate) also has no A,B, or C 42 code. It does have the 523 code for Westfalia two tone paint though. Interesting the belly pans on this Bus. Great find! _________________ 1959 Model M1: 118

The 'big top' tent was typical for US sold SO-42s, IFAICT.
I'd expect a euro sold westy to have the 'earlier' tent mounts, the ones through the roof. That's usual for them. But whatever.
This is a no port code 1965 SO-42, with tent mounts typical for that style westy:

^^Thank you all for your replies! Does anyone know what type of fabric for the camping interior this bus should have? Mustard Vinyl or plaid fabric? It's going to be awhile before I get started on this bus, just want to know what i'll be needing so I can keep an eye out. Thanks |

My guess would be the mustard yellow, especially since it's a 67. I've seen a few German delivered SO 42's that did have the plaid fabric but never a US SO 42.
Then again, Westfalia would do whatever you asked for so anything is possible.
Here's a 66 SO 42 with the fabric and early curtains.

not sure if it came with plaif or vinyl seats- but if you are pricing out options that repro'ed plaid fabric is not for the faint of heart $$$$ |

I haven't priced any of it out yet but I know how expensive these projects can become! So are both the mustard vinyl and the plaid available in repro? |

I removed most of the orange 70's carpet to see what was under it. There was a plate covering this hole in the floor where the ice box would sit. It goes through the belly pan too.
Three screw holes in the floor look like a reciever for the table leg maybe?
Looks like an outlet was once here. Are they normally on the other side?
Reverse light made by Bosch.
Does anyone know what this piece goes to?
I couldn't keep myself from buffing out a little bit of the paint, it shines up nice.

Correct, it goes here and is often missing:
For a 67 Westy, the outlet would normally be on the drivers side long wall and prior to that is was on the drivers side corner (exactly opposite of where your's is).
Table leg receiver on floor:

That is Susan's 66 SO-42 Dormobile. Which is a no port code no westy code bus with lots of options and in nice shape to boot.
Here is the back of the same bus, showing the outlet above the left taillight:
I don't think there is any way to tell if yours came with plaid or mustard vinyl.
Not all the German delivered westys came with plaid.
Here is a 65 SO-42 no port code, no westy code, blue & white two tone Dormobile, mustard vinyl

what is under that shag carpet in the back? IS it wood?
The side light looks like it was the usual style, like the mustard vinyl bus, not the slide in plastic like the plaid bus |

I'll pull that shag out tonight and see what's under it. I did pull down part of the headliner just to see if there were sky light stampings, there are none. I only have one of the side light covers not sure how it attatched though, I'll check it out. Susan's "zapper" bus is awesome! |

There is wood under the shag but i'm sure it was added later as it matches the rest of the custom 70's mods. At one time the whole wood headliner was covered in fabric that matched what is on the cab head-boards.
I figured out what this little piece was for, screw holes line up perfect.

I purchased my first piece of so 42 interior. I think it's a decent enough icebox for this bus. The top needs to be re-glued, the spout is missing and no water tank.
Only one problem with it, it's for a bench seat bus.
I'm quickly learning that these pieces are hard to find in nice shape. I figured since the top is already off it would make it easier to change out the side to a solid panel. I felt I had to get it anyway. Anyone have any spare veneer they would be willing to sell?
