Thanks Max. I hope to have it ready to go next weekend, just waiting on parts to arrive. I'm keeping myself busy with it by doing things like changing the oil in the tranny and motor and cleaning the interior. I really do look forward to taking it for a drive. |

Both the engine and the radio sound FANTASTIC! I bet you're very excited to take her for a spin.
You'll have to post up a video of it running down the road.
As Max said, that's SUCH a time machine! _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Thanks Bill. It sounds like it has an exhaust leak somewhere, but that's a simple enough fix. I'll get a video when I take it for a spin and will definitely post it. |

Wow I'm jealous. Our cars are almost identical but yours is a million times nicer then mine haha. Wish someone hadn't painted over my original turkis. It looks awesome! Good for you man. I'll be following this car for sure. |

Ok.
I've owned it about a year and a half. Daily drive it.
I tried to strip the crappy white to get that sweet turkis back but didn't have any luck..
Burned threw to bare metal super fast on the body so I gave up.
Sorry for long post not trying to thread jack!! Ha |

Thanks. I found this one on Craigslist. Don't forget to check there. Also misspell Volkswagen. It'll bring up a lot of ads not listed when you spell it correctly. |

OOOHHHH shiny paint ...........Great find...enjoy your new toy
Note ; In another "barn find " thread the mechanic types mentioned changing the springs in the heads because having some of them compressed in the same position for years weakened them .
Any opinions and have you considered this...fairly easy to do preventative step
Pull valve covers
change springs
re-set valves _________________ 63 two fold rag

Had the car sat idle for decades, I'd consider doing this, but it was driven-just very sparingly. I believe from 1980-present it only covered 11,000 miles. Mechanically, the car seems fine. Aside from a deep clean/detail, routine tune up stuff, and returning the correct Garbe Lahnmeyer distributor/electrical bits to the engine, I don't for see it requiring much of anything! |
