What does one do while preparing the 71 notchback to become a dedicated race car? Why, start another project, of course!
Say hello to White Trashed.
I need to clean it, add wheels and tires, clutch cable and the 1600 "sweep the floor" engine and play with it. The PO butchered on it it enough that I can't sell it, so why not?
It sat for 11 years and the blackberries tried to consume it. No more!

Oh yeah... And it has those odd ball 73 three point seats. The car was originally yellow and a pressure washer might take it back to that color. It appears to be house paint
PO installed Bizarro items: Basically, put in a superbeetle fiberglass dash, changed the rear deck lid to a piano hinge set up, added a pop up sunroof and an oil cooler insert into the front new replacement apron. Also, cut vent holes in the engine bay and cut into the tunnel near the pedals.
Oh, and he had also put in his own engine hanger to remove the stock one. That had put the axles pointed forward. That part is already corrected! _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

It looks like fun so far...
I want to see the dash hackery! _________________ "...these cars were preferred by the racers because the strut front suspension results in far superior handling than the regular torsion bar front end..." - Keith Seume. |

You mean you washed off all of that moss and stuff? I would have left it for that "trashed" look (kind of like the rusty "patina" look, but only cooler ). I only say that, as it took 11 years to get that growth.
I know, I know, you can't drive it to school looking like that. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

School? Not this one... 1600T to take to the 1/8th mile. Then when the 71 is ready, I'll move sheet metal. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

So you're going to put the 8 spokes back on it? Then tint the windows and make a slow cruiser out of it.
You can just see the 8 spoke inside the car in this shot. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I agree, a crapload of clearcoat would have preserved that look! |

roll some clear on & wipe the windows. Nobody will park near you for fear some of it may rub off on them. |

Getting ready for the transplant. Both are washed off and degunked on the outside. Bug bombed on the inside and if the rain stops, I'll get under them to move the 1600 over to the squareback.

Snapped a battery tray pic just before setting off the bug bomb. Lots of rat crap, but a solid pan.
The Centerline clones will go on later today to see if the 205s will fit. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

I am surprised the environmental police did not come by and try to save the life forms on the square. Got it looking good. |

The engine I was going to use is toast, so I am on the hunt for another engine. I need to defund the inside next and get the clutch cable in. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

I ran up to Eugene and picked up a short block from Tram. It needs some help and that begins tonight. I will let it lubed up and oil the cylinders, then I'll measure the deck. The big issue right now is that I don't have any good, used, stock heads. So, I need to source some. I believe I have everything else to create a t3 engine to stuff in the car. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Okay, I need two sets of stock heads, me... Two sets. Who'd a thunk? Well, one for me and one for a buddy.
Anyone have a set of 311 heads that aren't fried? _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Telling prospective suppliers whether dual or single port might be helpful... _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.
