If you split that front bumper, I'll buy the righthand cast bumper guard as long if doesn't crack during removal. |
It would be a shame to break up that beautiful bumper. It should stay with the car--------they are only original once you know. |

Decided to go a little different direction with the engine/trans.
We have new brakes and shocks all the way around. Suspension/steering parts are in excellent shape, nothing needed there.
We are installing a 4.12 gear box, short axles, 67 brakes, a dp 1600 which we will be trying the new hpmx empi carbs on, and a dual circut master cylinder to work with the 67 rear brakes. We're leaving the suspension stock so it can run all terrains. |

Nope, it's mild, should be about 100 hp. I'll post a video once it's running and driving. Should be this week. |

Isn't it widely considered an act of sacrilege to fit an Opel tachometer in a classic Volkswagen, even if the instrument is made by VDO? _________________ David Ruby

I been trying to figure out the connection between these two statements. |

So far this will be one of my all time favorite karmann ghias, just because how much you care to actually build this car.

I read it as. The car is already a chopped coupe with a roll bar so at this point he can do what he wants and a little thing like a wrong tach is of no consequence.
That a lot of motor to start with. It'll make a nice ride. |

I'm having fun. Instead of making things pretty and shiny, I like to make them useful and enjoyable, and it's not like the car can't be painted later. The biggest tasks I have in mind are things like, making the doors functional.. finding seats... and tires I'm not worried about straitening the nose, or skim coating the whole thing then block sanding for 2 weeks. |

Progress; received current plates and stickers, now just need to carefully peal the 61 and 62 stickers off of the rear yom plate and transfer the yom plates over. Here's loading it up for the vin# verification
We pulled the glass out of the passenger door and straightened it enough to open and close. We even got the OG key to lock and unlock both doors.
Body work done.
Still not the prettiest door, but the door was damaged by a large piece of farm equipment, we figured it ads to the history and over all theme of the car. |
