Hello, not sure I'm in the right forum but here we go.
I'm installing a tuned 1964 Porsche 616 industrial engine into my dads old 63 bug.
The industrial engines are single carb in stock form but I have installed dual 36 Dellorto drla.As the fanhousing didn't have the dual carb linkage I had to borrow one and try to copy it, the linkage is activated behind the shroud through a rod,a lever and a ball connection.
My question is how do I connect the throtle cable to the ball head, any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Also I need a muffler that will fit under the apron. I've thought about a stock 356 A muffler, but I'm not sure it it will flow enough for a 100 hp+ 1720cc motor.
If any of you vintage rodders have done a similar conversion, please upload some pics of tinware, carb linkage and exhaust.

thanks Peter,Denmark

if you take the ball end to a place that does rigging for yachts, they might have a threaded cable end that fits the ball end and can be swaged onto the cable.

personally though I'd replace the ball set up with something like the Volkswagen carb set up. it allows for more adjustment so you don't have to be 100% on your measurements when shortening the cable.

edit: if a ships chandler can't help, possibly try a supplier of model aircraft parts?

I say drill & tap your ball fitting, get a cable shortening kit, and thread the accelerator cable adapter to fit in the ball fitting.
Then you can custom fit your accelerator cable length and you’d have a nice set up for your accelerator cable.

Hi Henry and Al thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Henry you got a point about using the type 1 cable connector to allow more forgiveness, but will there be room enough to fiddle around behind the shroud with both hands ?(carbs has to be installed and linkage connected to
get lever in possition)

Al that cable shortening kit might just be the ticket and thanks for moving my pics.

Peter
