What is the correct carb for my June of 50 split? 26 or 28?

Solex 26 VFI was in use from late 49 to April(?) 50. (VFI used also between 41/46, and Huf carb 46/49).

Don't pay big bucks for one that doesn't have the band around the bowl....

Pics above have the banded carb. Correct for split VWs. Casted "band" around the fuel bowl.

Unbanded carbs may have been used on industrial engines and other cars. They are much more prevalent, but not completely "correct".

So the one on the right is the correct one? And another question , how does the manual choke cable attach? How much is a fair price? And thanks a bunch who responded to educate me. This is my first split and I want to do it correctly.

Nope the one on the right is NOT the correct one. The left and center ones have the horizontal band on the "bowl" portion.

The cable runs thru the chassis tube by itself, no sheath until it reaches the engine, the carb has a few feet of sheath from the carb back thru the fan shroud and stops above the transmission.

The choke cable sheath is tightened in that clamp you see on the band (right one is missing this clamp and screw, center and left ones have a bolt) and the wire cable itself attaches to the barrel clamp on the throttle linkage (which is seen only on the center carb)

Here's a couple of my early carbs. The version on the Left is a HuF 26VFI. Carb on the Right is a Solex 26VFIS

The chart says 1.2 or 1.5, and I think all my VFIS have had 1.5 mm with no problem.
