(For 4-Lug Wheel, not tested on 5 Lug)
So, as you may know its hard to find replacement centercaps for older wheels, and the ones that are out there can get pricey.
EMPI makes new plastic center caps that fit their new repops (EMPI pt# 00-9707-0). But these are too small in inner diameter to fit the OG wheels.

I was on a budget and these new caps go for around 10$ each. theyre plastic and look a little different, but if I ever lost one It wouldnt be such a big deal..

To make up for the smaller diameter I drilled small pilot holes abiut 1/4" up, from where that cap contacts the face of the wheel. I did this one 3 of the tabs.

Then I added button head screws with a 1/4" round heads.
The screws make up the difference in diameter and will be holding the cap into the wheel. I just played around with the screwdriver til they fit nice and snug on the wheel.

I also fixed the ring clip that is on the inside of the tabs, and pulled it a lil wider to help spread the modified tabs into the wheel for a better hold.

Hopefully this could help some.
Ive been running these for over a year with no problems!

I use the BBT center caps on my 4 lug original sprintstar wheel, a good repro made of steel, not expensive, perfect fit and can be shipped by mail. The BBT stickers does not hold well, I replaced them by the wolsfburg Castle logo sold CIP1 on the wheels of my 62

I see cip1.com is now selling the BBT Sprinter Star Center Caps that fit the OG Sprint Star Steel Wheels, good price but how is the look & fit compared to original center caps?

Answer to my own question...
I purchased the cip1.com Sprint Star Center Caps, here's a comparison...

The Center Caps are metal, nice quality, good price...$69.95 for (4) four shipped.
Of course I'm not much for the BBT Emblem, the fold or lip closest to wheel center is a tighter bend (see photo) but they fit nice and tight on original Sprint Star Wheel.

Bumping an old thread, I too bought the BBT caps but pealed off the BBT sticker a replaced it with a nice repop of the original EMPI GT I bought from a fellow samba member in the classifieds.

Hi there I recently just picked up a set of original sprint stars all 4 are 5.5 wide my car is slightly lowered 2ins it has an adjustable beam. Right now it has 165s all way around. No scrubbing.... What size tire are you running up front looks like you have 5.5 width? I'm afraid I might scrub some

Thanks Jon
