"NL" is the country code for "Nederland", which is The Netherlands. Some of the earliest headlight lenses had the "NL" country code stamped into the glass, like yours.
Looking at your lense it seems to be a beetle lense.
So most likely that headlight lense was originally on an early beetle which originally has been delivered to The Netherlands.

I thought someone told me years ago when I was looking for eyebrow lenses for my 47 that the unmarked ones were DKW - there were a few around in the swap meets in Germany at the time.
