|
|
I came across this early style generator yesterday. It fits in a 36hp generator mount, looks 6 volt. It has no holes to mount a voltage regulator, though. I guessed it was an older 356 one due to the elaborate clamp and nut but could be wrong? I searched the gallery and found similar ones listed as 356, but don't see a voltage rating on this. It has:
LJ/GEG200/6/2600L19
------>
BOSCH
then some German I can't make out
406
Maybe the '6' up top is the voltage?
Here are bad pics:
I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, it just looked about the right era? Thank you to anyone who can help identify this thing. |

Looks like an early Bus generator. The regulator was mounted separately on the side sheet metal of the Bus. _________________ '63 OG 117 Herbie Replica

Ah ha! Thank you Mr Everett! If it's from 64 would that make it a 12V one? |

I agree that it is from a 356. It is a 6 volt unit. The 6 in between the back slashes denotes that. 6 volt = /6/ , 12 volt = /12/ Here is a link to a Bosch chart for Porsche.

The model number is LJ/GEG 200/6/2600 L19, which means it's a 6 volt generator that produces 200 watts at 2600 RPM. |

Sorry to reserect an older post- BUT
I have an identical generator - including stamped numbers "200/6/2600" but without dust cover - and it is 12v, I am running this on my 36hp in my early ghia.
Could this have been a 6v generator converted to 12v or is it a 356 12v generator ?
I am interested to understand what voltage regulator should be used 30 or 38 amps? _________________ -------------------

With a 200/6/2600 model number, it was originally a 6v generator, 200 watts. Sounds like it has been converted to 12v, which is a pretty simple operation apparently. Lots of shops who repair these do it. |
