|
|
Hello All --
I am stuck and hoping a guru can help me out. I really want either Diamond Grey L243 or Trout Blue for my car. I have seen the thread where it lists the PPG code but when I call my local PPG supplier they cannot make that paint using that code.
Has anyone successfully made this paint? What brand did you use? Would you please send me the code you had? I am desperate at this point.
I have also read the thread that BASF made the original paint but I cant seem to find that either.
I would REALLY like a working PPG code or better yet a Sherwin Williams equivalent.
Please help!!! |

See the above thread and go to TCPGlobals' site. Second, maybe the moderator will move your question to the Ghia forum if you don't get a response here since you are asking about a lowlight paint and more likely to get a response should you elect not to try TCP or they may not have trout blue (a difficult rare color). |

Doing diamond grey myself. It was either that or diamond silver but the diamond grey has a bit of green in it which is my favorite color. I've seen many cool colors but keep coming back to diamond grey!!!!
It's a "classy" color! |

DO IT!
BASF/Glasurit was the original stock manufacuturer and arguably one of the better paints on the market now. Many high end cars are painted with it. Expect to pay a pretty penny.
Go to Glasurit's website here. Type Volkswagen as manufacturer. Then scroll down through the "colour name" drop box to Diamantgrau Met. There is the mixing code.
All of the colors are in their original German name, which adds to the fun! If you're having trouble finding one, just put Volkswagen as the manufacturer and a year range then start search. You should be able to translate the name and also verify the color code.
I also had success taking L243 to my local Glasurit dealer and they were able to produce the formula.
Good luck! _________________ -Ryan

Two formulas in the Glasurit database (Line 90)... one looks to just be a fuzz more grey. Probably not noticeable difference. If going to do it... probably call your local Glasurit paint vendor & see if they carry Line 90.

90 line is water based.
55 is solvent.
Just do your research on differences in equipment and technique. _________________ -Ryan
