Hi Guys,

I am replacing my old inner and outer bearing in front drums on my 56 beetle,
and I need to know if these need to be removed and replaced using an hydraulic press,
or if these can be removed and replaced by hand and rubber hammer?

thanks for help

No need for a press. The bearing races can be removed with a punch & hammer. For install, you have several options.
1). This tool- http://t.harborfreight.com/10-piece-bearing-race-a...t%3D109452

2)- use the old race to drive the new one into place
3)- use a proper sized socket

Here's a free tip for install. Place the new race in the freezer. The metal will shrink when cold and will aid in making install a little easier

thanks, that video is very usefull,
even if process seems simple, it provides good tips on doing the job correctly such as the simple technic to grease the bearing efficiently.

I didn t knew about the replacement nut he used with that little screw.
Does anyone knew where we can find these ?.

thanks
