I been thinking of making a Vinyl top for my Kyote buggy, I have plenty of vinyl to construct for one.

Has anyone else made there own top ?

If so what did they do to make the top stay in the windshield Channel ?

I know I can purchase a Sombrero but I don't have the added funds for one.

This is the way I did it. It fits very securely in the groove on the windshield frame and never given me a problem. I make the stiffener strip from aluminum. I get an aluminum strip, 3/4" wide X 1/16" thick at the hardware store and narrow it down to 5/8" wide. It should be 41 1/2" long and round the corners. When you install/attach the top, the aluminum bends down at each end to fit into the curved sections of the windshield groove.

I have the folded over "cuff" section made out of a separate piece of material, 2 1/4" wide.

There should be two rows of stitching, one right next to the back edge of the flexible strip which just holds the strip snuggly in the cuff. The second row of stitching is the one that attaches the cuff to the top and it is approximately 1/4" back from the first seam. It is also 1/4" back from the front edge of the top. The 1/4" distance between rows of stitching allows the cuff to be folded backwards without also folding the front edge of the top under.
