hey Mario- will you also be doing the rear panels with the same pattern? |
the rear panels I was sent do not have the lower ribs, nor would they be seen with the lower seat bottom in place(I don't think).

Only the front panels have the ribs. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Pretty sure it's '67 to end of production. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I don't think the later models had this though?
Erik's comments sounds to be about right. _________________ The best of VW engine development!

I thought it was a 4 year span on these panels. _________________ Mario De Leon

Actually that lower pressing was even used on 73's, but it was panel colored rather than black. Which means that pressing was used for more than 4 years. The panels I replaced on my wife's 70 Fastback had the lower strip pressing in black as well. As did the black 71 Squareback door panels I used in my 71 Notch (I taped the bottom portion off, and shot some white SEM paint on the panels). _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

It might be an "OZ" thing as you keep pointing out Vlad.
German built cars for the USA were top of the line models. Our cars came with most of the options standard. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I guess I was looking at the original more than the finished copy. The Original one is 66-67. I'm not into later really, and wasn't thinking you just drill them for whatever arm rest you are using. duh!

Yeah, but it's not '66- '67 only- it's 67- 73. They use the same door panel but different arm rests. '66 is VERTICAL pleats- the only year for this- which you *ought* to know since you've been looking for a Pigalle- right?
'66 is really the only "unique" year for both seat pattern and door panels. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

To pick nits...
Notice the two heat seams above the black area at the bottom of the panel?
The two spaced wide apart?
They should be higher, and stop a bit short of the map pocket.
Those are too low, and run all the way through....

Yup, and 64 and 65 were 2 piece as part of the "S" package, as "N" models got a single piece door panel (with a bug arm rest). I'm not sure IF 61 to 63 got 2 piece door panels or not, as I've never had a really early car. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

'61-'63 is the same as the "s" cars but with a salt and pepper lower panel to match the seats. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

You keep forgetting our cars were German cars towards the later models. we did not manufacture them since 68. We merely painted and final assemble otherwise complete car from the stuff supplied from Germany, lot of imported ones too. _________________ The best of VW engine development!

So what's your excuse for not knowing about the lower pleats then? _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

And if you look at the 64 N Square posted in the "whines", it's door panels look like the old style TMI door panels. Don't know if they're correct or not, as I haven't had an N either. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
