I just bought a 71 bug for the motor. I always like to have a spare engine around!
I offered it to someone for free without the motor. He was excited at first, but now I have not heard from him in days! Am I making a mistake here? Should I part this bug out? sell it as is? It has wiring issues ( no key and lots of toggle switches) There is a title document! What say you!

A lot of it depends on how much, if any rot there is. If the heater channels are toast and the A and/B pillars are bad, then yeah - maybe part it out.
BUT I would suggest running a for sale ad. Value of course depends on what teh condition is. Wiring is not that big of a deal. A new harness is a couple hundred bucks and most of that damage can be reversed. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

If you decide to part out. I need the Right taillight housing. not the light or lens just the metal housing between light and fender. and if the turn signal switch works (at least the dimmer 71 one year only) I could use it also. might need a few other things, have to do an inventory
Let me know what you think
Thanks |

I see signs of serious rust in the hood, fenders, heater channels and other spots. If the rust is serious, I wouldn't feel bad about parting it out.
Either way, you could list the whole thing for sale and see what you could get for it. I'd say $500 tops. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

I guess another dimension to the question is .. how many buildable old bugs are on the island of Oahu? |
actually there were quite a few back in the day. I'm a type II
owner now---a single cab actually! I'm sure there are plenty still around.
You can't drive to the mainland
