I got my horn problem figured out by cleaning the ground connections, replacing the connectors at the horn and buying a new 12v horn from Wolfsburg West.
I find that the horn is not very loud even if I jump it directly to the battery. The WW horn is made in Germany.
Has anyone purchased a horn that produces a good quality sound??? |

Ive noticed that new horns are really quiet too. I have a new 12v horn on our '73 Thing and its a joke.
Horns are a fun thing cause you can always find them at swap meets. They work about 30% of the time so its a gamble. If you tighten the adjuster screw the note gets higher, and loosen the note gets lower.
I will probably never buy a new horn again, way too quiet. I am running an original early 60s Bosch 6v horn on my oval and that boy makes some good honest vw sound. _________________ Shadetree Westy
