http://www.mooreparts.com/6747-AC598500*/

also if anyone has cheaper prices for a full 3x3 kit or any other suggestions i am working on placing 33x10.5 inch tires on my baja bug. it is a 74 (despite my name the guy i bought the car from had it posted as a 73 and i made this account in order to ask some questions prior to purchasing it... but that is a whole story of its own)

I have a flexible budget but obviously the less i have to spend the better.

any input? i have read as many threads as i could find here and other places on the net just want to make sure for myself as i am rather new to the volkswagen scene.

You must relocate shocks from the 3x3 arms to the inner roll cage.

oh ok! as of right now there is no rollcage. that is one of the upcoming upgrades. i am not planning on racing or jumping this. just taking it out on trails. I am going with 33's for added ground clearance. and as of right now if i go with 33 i am hitting 1.5-2" inches into the fender well without suspension travel. so the 3x3 should put me out far enough. as far as shock mounts are concerned could i run a steel brace up from the frame and bolt onto that versus having to hook to a cage?

If the goal is ground clearance? Try adding wheel offset and high clearance fenders to make the 33's fit I like easy and cheep. just thought.

i would need about 3 inches of offset to make them fit. i believe. the 31X15.5 inch terra tires that i have mounted on steel rims are only about 2" into the rim. so they clear the torsion bar and yes ground clearance is all i am trying to achieve.

If you do end up using the kit maybe let us know how it works for you. I'm considering buying the same kit some time down the line.

i am truly thinking of going with the #3 kit on the dansperformance website that includes the fox shocks. having a suspension like that would put me ahead of most of the baja bugs in my area. most of the ones in my area are running stock or near stock suspension setup with 31" tires being the largest i have seen so far. i am not a big fan of being the same or near the same as someone else.

Kit #3 is good but the shock is to short, better if it came with a 14 in.shock.

Would I be better off with kit 2 and buying some 14 inch shocks seperately?

There's also the front to think about. Once you push the rear back and out, you'll need to address what will now be a narrower front end.

Yes kit#2 will work and find some used shocks and don't jump to far ahead of your self now your going need a cage to mount the shocks and extend the front end maybe you should get a cage first.

i am actually going to fab some shock mounts that will jump from the frame through the floor boards and hook just through the floor with sheet metal covers over them so they do not leave openings in the car. i will try to draw something up within the next week and post a pic. this is going to be about a 2 month project probably with the way my work schedule has been lately.
