|
|
Hello all,
I've reviewed a bunch of the brake line threads and didn't see a mention so I thought I'd ask...does anyone have a source for the two short hard lines on the front of a '75 bus/Westy? My weekender uses approx. 6" lines to go from the caliper to the hose in my front wheel wells. It's definitely not in Herman Supply's kit.
Thanks in advance!

Brian, thanks for the response but these short lines are actually the hard steel lines. On my '75 the caliper connects to these short steel lines, the comes the hose, and then another steel line.
I may call your contact at JBugs if I end up having to have it custom made...was hoping to find it "off the shelf", though.

Bus Depot has them. I got one for the front right, last year, as it needed to be replaced.
I just went through my paperwork and found it:

I kept the old one and shaped the new one to match it exactly. Fit and works great!
Hope that helps!

It’s a standard steel metric threaded brake line. You can buy a strait 6 inch section at any auto parts store and then carefully bend it into an ‘S’ by hand...or at least that is what I did. |

You guys with full featured auto parts stores are lucky I live in the DC metro area and there are very few good parts stores left here anymore. Most are Advance or Pep Boys and not as comprehensive as the awesome NAPAs that some seem to have _________________ '75 Campmobile (tin-top to SpaceRoof)

Didn't think brakes on a 75 was any different than my 78. My brake line kit from German Supply had the front steel lines, but you have to bend them to shape.

I imagine the price may be on the high end but it was nice to have all the components together and since I had never done bus brake lines before I didn't trust myself buying random lines from random sources.

Have you tried here: http://www.napaonline.com/va/falls-church
If you absolutely strike out I'd be willing to run to Knecht's Auto down the road and pick up a couple of 6" metric bubble flare lines to send you, same ones I bent to replace the damaged originals on my '75 last year... |
