'63 Stained Window Glass

...picked up this patina beauty earlier this week...it has no glass, no interior and no fenders. Installed new window rubber on glass I had. After the install, I tried cleaning the foggy glass, with no luck. The film appears to be oxidation, from sitting in my metal barn for maybe 20 years.

I used Windex and then a window scraper, and then gasoline on a rag, and finally lighter fluid on steel wool...maybe 20% of it came off. Anyone know of a way to remove oxidation from glass...I'd like to get it off, but if I can't, it does match the surface rust and patina

If the window is fogged because of age separation of the glass layers there is no fix

I bet a polishing cream would take it off... Like maas, it's good for polishing a lot of different surfaces, even plastic lenses.

It's good that you started with the least aggressive then worked your way up.

Next you might try a mild acid like vinegar and steel wool, if that doesn't work the next step up would be CLR and steel wool.

Water dripping on glass can transfer minerals onto the glass. We have a nice piece of headlight glass that had the same treatment. Very hard to polish off....

^^^ exactly. Don't be shy about cutin and buffin that glass. When faced with similar hell on my '66 bus windows- I spent nearly 2 hours per side window averaging 6 razor blades per pane to get that crap off. It will come off tough- with elbow grease and desolve-it.

"Nothin's Better". That's the name of an old-fashion product that comes in a 4 ounce white container.

It's a powder that is made specifically for getting the worst stuff--like hard minerals from water--off your windows.

I got mine at Napa Auto. My daughter's car had been sitting all summer next to where our yard sprinklers got the windows wet and left the hard minerals behind. Nothing would work on that shit, until ...

... I found the stuff mentioned above.

It works.

If it's on the glass surface try using a single edge razor blade.
