Sorry you went through the ordeal, but this is why you should do your own work. I do not let the tire stores drive my bug or anyone else for that matter. I will drive it in and out or I will bring the wheels to get them done. If they don't like that I wont get anything done there. A 18-20 year old kid wasn't born when my car was made.....I don't expect him to know how to drive it,

I bet there are a few folks over on vwar that would be interested in that autostick, at least 3-4 Aussie posters over there!

Their incompetent worker manhandles your shifter--due to the fact that he doesn't know what he's doing--and they only want to pay half?

Damn!

I agree Tim, Im going to settle for this for now since the manager is dropping subtle threats that if I don't go along with the 50/50 he wont pay anything.

After he pays Duane Im going to be sending a physical letter to Kals head office and having a nice chat with the BBB. Especially considering this isn't my first issue with them not knowing how to drive a standard, last guy didn't know you had to press the clutch before turning the key...

You got half of the money, considering it was a used trans to begin with you made out ok...let the BBB and letter writing thing go.

Maybe a better "deal" can be worked out if the Kal Tire tech has a cute sister. Wink

I feel bad for Kal Tire and the new kid working there. What condition does a transmission have to be in such that it can be thrown out of alignment using the shifter? Is your shifter plate aligned correctly so that each gear was easily found? Bushings all ok? You mentioned some slop. Don't let someone else drive a car with a finicky setup and then complain if something doesn't work right afterward.
