No, the VW engine will not bolt up to the Corvair transaxle.
Anything is possible to do, making a adapter would be required.
Also the Corvair engine spins in reverse of the VW engine so a reverse camshaft would have to be designed and installed to make the VW engine spin in the correct direction for the Corvair transaxle.

Or you have to reverse ring gear in VW transaxle.... Why would you want Corvair.... They have a lot less power than a lot of newer engines that are easier to adapt.... Adapters are available for Corvair to VW though... And reverse rotation cams are available for Corvair...

I think the Hibbard's book said something along the lines of "unless you have unlimited funds and are married to the brands, don't use Porsche or Corvair"

Then more then likely it will work since it probably is a vw transaxle that they had used the conversion plate to mate the Corvair engine to it though there is a chance they swapped the side the ring gear is on to reverse the tranny rather then changing the cam to reverse the corvair engine so that would have to be changed back if that was the case. But then again there is a possibilities they actually used a corvair tranny

That is pretty slick! I would like to see more of it, lots of custom parts from my angle.

Orange county buggy body, 091 trans , 4 wheel disc brakes with a parking brake, custom fuel tank, 140 HP reverse rotating Chevy Corvair engine with dual 44 webers. Finishing up a few small details and it will be ready for its fist drive.
