It looks like it is headed out to California. Missed it by a day, as I was at the Kuebel Treffen. |

The ad is still active so make sure it really is headed to California.
Funny, I wouldn't have given that ad ten seconds of a look because of my skill set deficiencies when it comes to any kind of project. That really does look like a nice deal for someone who does have the skills. _________________ Now: 2003 New Beetle Turbo S / 1990 Single Cab Transporter / 2014 Tiguan R-Line 4motion / 2013 Tiguan S / 2002 Golf GLS TDI

Any word from your voicemail? Did it sell? Were you a Day late?
Wish I could have snagged it.... My next Thing just needs a good front end though, back end doesn't matter to me!!! _________________ '74 Thing, "Our Thing"....

Well I was treated somewhat rudely on that deal.
When I contacted the seller a couple of weeks ago, they stated that a California buyer had locked the sale in, and they were just waiting on the payment. However, if the deal fell through, I would be next in line.
During 28-31 July, the sellers emailed or texted me about 10 pictures. I called several times, and left voicemails, but I never received a phone call back.
Several days later around 31 July, the California buyer still hadn't paid for
the Thing. I told them I would pay cash for the Thing, and I was serious. They were still waiting on the CA buyer. I told them that I would be out of town for the next week, but I was still very interested in seeing the Thing. Again, I was told that I was the next in line.
Yesterday afternoon, they said that the Thing was available for me to buy. Then later in the evening they sent me their address, which was an hour drive away. I told them that I would be by Monday evening to look at it. Well, at 5:15 PM they called to tell me that they had sold their Thing. WTH?!
I only hope somebody on here bought it, and not a flipper. It went to Durant, OK. |

Whoa..... There is no honor in a persons word anymore.... What a lame society we've become, where one cannot hold to their end of a deal...
Of course, the "money talks" rule is always in play, unless otherwise stated expressly... Even then, without a deposit, most folks will take first to show with dough....
I too hope it went to an enthusiast, and not a flipper.... Although, I can see it ending up on some lame TV show, where they buy all the rare, one offs(yeah right) and flip them on the interwebs..... _________________ '74 Thing, "Our Thing"....

No honor is right. I had the rug ripped out from under me years ago when I had a commitment to buy a Type 34, and I had my plane ticket already purchased for LAX. This person is (was?) someone big in the Type 34 world, but his name is dirt in my book and I still flinch with anger when I hear the words Huntington Beach. Sorry you had a bad experience, too. _________________ Now: 2003 New Beetle Turbo S / 1990 Single Cab Transporter / 2014 Tiguan R-Line 4motion / 2013 Tiguan S / 2002 Golf GLS TDI

Well the guy is still active on here. He basically stated that his mom sold it, and he supported how she sold it. Some people.... |

If you don't put money down you can't expect much. Putting money down and getting a signed sales contract is even better. That is what I did before flying to Vegas to pick mine up.
$100 up front might have sealed this deal for you and even if the seller had still sold to someone else and then not refunded your cash you wouldn't have been hurt much. |
