|
|
As the title says, I have a 74 Ghia and I'm looking at options to convert to 5 lug (open minded on the exact pattern) disk brake, from the stock 4.
Has anyone done it? Not looking to break the bank. So far adapters are the only option I've come up with, haven't narrowed the beam yet so I can compensate for that when I do if needed, but I rather find a proper rotor.
Obviously will need to sort out something matching for the back, but I plan to stick with the drums and there seems to be some options there.
Thanks,
Justin |

It depends on your desired lug pattern. If you are considering 5 x 130 mm Porsche or 5 x 4.75" Chevy pattern, that's easy. Conversion rotors and drums are readily available.
However, if you are considering 5 x 205 mm, you have to buy a 5 x 205 mm front disc brake kit, as those kits are specially made so the wider bolt pattern can clear the caliper. I doubt that a wheel adapter would clear the stock caliper. Plus, that's a lot of unsprung rotating weight to add. Conversion 5 x 205 mm rear drums are available though. _________________ 1966 Karmann-Ghia convertible |

That's great, just had a search around, didn't know you get get rotors/drums with the 5 x 130 pattern. That will do the trick! |
