Last Monday I was checking out craigslist and saw this Buggy which I thought was a Manx but it looked longer .
pictures were very poor , so the next day I decided to take the two hour drive to Sodus NY, which was a little past Rochester NY.
I got there to find a car that had seen better days, it had front end damage the hood was a piece of paper thin , tire and wheel wells were poorly glassed , and the car had been cut in Half and glassed backed together again with the with of a piece of paper. It was on a full IRS pan.
But it did have a very worn Id tag on it that I could barely read the word BF Meyers .
The Id # is M33478012-2
The car had no dash .
Any way I almost left it , But I could not leave it and saved it !
Here are some pictures of the ugliest Manx on the planet!
So as I towed on a two wheel dolly and prayed I make it home ,
I got the call my El Tejon Manx was waiting on the shipping truck , for me at my house so I had to rush back , But I made it ! two Manx's in a day! |

Its a -2 (dash two). It has a battery and spare tire well and reinforcing tubes under the sides but originally it also had a Manx 2 one piece hood and dash and the large emblem bump on the nose.
Dave Barrett has a mold for the right dash. |

I could follow the route of the truck that lost the Manx 2 hood I just sold
And hope too find it on the side of the road.
What were the final ID numbers after the -2 manxs |

Um, the number after the serial number of a -2 Manx is -2
Are you asking; Was there a number at the end of the serial numbers of Manxes which were made after -2 Manxes?
The Manx 1 and Manx 2 and Manx-2 were made concurrently for most of their production. Manx 1s were made first and Manx 2s were made last, but the Manx 1 and Manx 2 were made at the same time.
Manx 1 serial numbers begin with M. Manx 2 serial numbers begin with A or have 4 digits. The -2 Manx is a Manx 1. |

I saw that car on craigslist a few days ago!! I actually live in Rochester myself. Looking for a body myself, it is cool that you found an original, but WOW is that going to need some MAJOR work! Congrats on the find and good luck! |

2 names come to mind, Vince Simansky and Joseph Wheeler.

It's got a good looking butt on it. (he he he he)
It is rough, but savable. I would cut out the added section, glass the body back to original length, order a hood and dash from Winnie and then repair what shows up front. It is certainly one to save and not let go to the landfill.
But, my plate is way full right now. I also have a Viper that was cut in half, then cut 9 inches out of it that. I have to make it whole and "find" the missing 9 inches. Plus my Sears Rascal, and now the Tow'd.
Please, if possible, get it to someone who will bring it back. It is a early body that could really be a head turner. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

Apparently its a good thing Joe doesn't read his own posts. If he did he would realize he didn't have the bandwidth for another project....
Another one saved from the burn barrel. Well done. |

It is REALLY good I cannot read my own posts. But, the old guy needed some loving. It is in seriously sad shape and will tax my ability to re-build ole' Frank.
I have made the decision to put it back to stock style and that includes the original Fushia metal flake. Since it will take a lot of time, this one will most likely take a year or so to get done in between other projects.
Instead of starting a new build thread, I will just continue Frank's progress on this one. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class
