They're silly. That's not a consensus, just an opinion. |

I agree, so the consensus so far is "they're silly".

They look kinda funny, but I really like them functionality wise.
LED halos with projectors, huge improvement at night.

These are the ones I just got. Disappointed with how bright they are, but they look "cool".

They were cool 5 years ago... not they're not.
Cibie Z Beams were cool in the 70s and still are.
Add in 135/55 watt bulbs and they're like a 747 coming down the highway. _________________ Glenn

Anthonyisawesome: I highly dislike the projector lights because I've used them before on other cars and it's true, you can't see well with them!
I've been thinking about getting these

Thanks for the input, guess I will stick with my Halogen headlights.

If you were disapointed with projectors you will be disapointed with those as well.
I've been through a lot of different headlights in my bug as I do a lot of night driving on rural roads and the best setup it like Glenns.
Mine are German Hella but same design with H4s through relays.
I did have 130/90w but I think the current ones are 100/80w and some 6000K HID hella driving lights are good for half a mile ahead. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

FWIW, there have been dozens of threads about lighting and they all come down to this,
H4's provide the best and most cost effective way to upgrade the lighting. When purchasing HR housings, stick with Hella or Bosch [or Cibie of you can find them]. The cheaper units that you can readily find on e-bay, are just that, cheaper. You get what you pay for. The quality of construction of cheaper models reveals itself in the quality of light they produce. You can't beat the lenses of the Hella or Bosch lights, the cut and pattern is far superior. If you are really concerned about lighting, spend the extra $20-$30 and get the real deal. If you are more concerned about the looks, then maybe some of the ebay lights are right for you.
Also, don't discount the standard 55/60 bulbs, they work great, a significant improvement over sealed beams. They are also plug and play, you don't need an extra relay unless you are using higher wattage bulbs [which personally I think is overkill].
Also, the lights above with the turnsignals below, at night, they don't work as good as you think they would. The light of the headlight [specially with higher wattage bulbs] usually overpowers the little turnsignal.

Most of the led's have burnt out now in mine but they did look good at first
You can't see the "halos" at all when the headlights are on. |

Yeah on the early models were they are not recessed enough they look a little "buggy"... However I think if they are fitted properly they can look good.

So the only pro is the cool factor, which lasts as long as the lights work properly....actually I don't think they look that cool.
So how about installing a bi-Xenon adapter kit for H4 fittings and run bi-Xenon headlights? That way you'll have tons of bright light.

I run Autopal H4 glass lens headlights. They are DOT approved and reasonably price and MUCH brighter than sealed beams. I have been toying with the idea of running Harley H4 headlights that are used on there baggers....VERY BRIGHT, but not be legal on a car. _________________ Chuck in Socal

MC H4's have a different cut, and don't work as well as a good set of auto H4's. Also, I don't think Harley's are using H4's any more, the last couple of baggers I've seen have led projectors on them. Pretty high tech.
