Started working on my '66 13w deluxe. It has decent original paint for the most part and the body is pretty straight. I am looking for advise as far as how you all have dealt with some of the issues I am dealing with. So I am starting at the front and working my way to the back.
First off I have pulled the windshields, window frames and most of the dash pieces, out and need to clean up and spot repair the window frame.
In the window frame looks like surface rust and some pitting, nothing through. Shouldn't be too bad to repair.
Front doors need to be adjusted and clean out the bottoms and do some rust prevention stuff down there, they are pretty dry nothing through yet.
I am going to try and save as much OG paint as I can and try to get this thing as solid as possible with original interior and paint. _________________ "Dammit, every time we have a sweet idea the government has to come and screw it up"-Kyle Broflowski

Started getting some stuff done. Got the windshield sill area cleaned up and painted.
The dash cleaned up very nice.
Got a bunch of pieces cleaned up and painted, along with the steering column and e-brake handle.
Hopefully my windshields and seals come in tomorrow so I can get them all put in. _________________ "Dammit, every time we have a sweet idea the government has to come and screw it up"-Kyle Broflowski

I got the windshields and seals in from ISP West yesterday. Amazing how those alone make it look so much better.
Much more to come soon! _________________ "Dammit, every time we have a sweet idea the government has to come and screw it up"-Kyle Broflowski

What brand and color paint did you use to re-do your headlight parts?? I used to mess around the Muscle car crowd and always thought the color we used on Chevy Ralley rims would be very close to OG. The bus is looking good, I think you have a good plan of attack starting at the front and working towards the rear. |

I used wolfsburgwest Chrome L91, looks really good. I was figuring by starting at the front all the drivers area stuff should be good, and I can work more on the cargo area once it is running. I started getting all the seals in the window frames replaced yesterday, what a PITA. Got about halfway through the drivers frame and called it quits for the day. _________________ "Dammit, every time we have a sweet idea the government has to come and screw it up"-Kyle Broflowski

Got the drivers side widows in, still got to get the main door seal in. The fried eggs cleaned up pretty good as well. Started on the passenger side frame now, what a PITA. Also got the cells in the speedo and got it put in.
This latch just amazes me.

Been getting some stuff done. Got the passenger window frame done and in, as well as the door seals. Started working on the front brakes/packing bearings and getting the pedals and shifter all hooked up so I can put my tattered OG mat put in.
I need to get some vent window to frame seals as this passenger side the lower part of the seal crumbled away, I got some clear rtv silicon holding it in till I can do that.
Driver's side looks pretty good, need to get the OG front door panels I found (thanks Corey) put in.
These front brakes were actually in pretty good shape, good shoes and the cylinders are in good shape too! Just needed some good cleaning as like 10 spiders had called in there home.
Here I got the clutch and brake pedals all put in w/ new seals and pads. Also a new seal for the throttle pedal and got the shiffter put in. Waiting on my new master cylinder to come in then I can start buttoning up the pedal area and get the pedal pan put in.

I have your middle seat. I've been trying to trade it for an aero papyrus equivalent for quite awhile in the classifieds here. Almost zero chance somebody has one AND needs this guy, but I have to try. I'm getting ready to strip this seat and have it recovered, which is kind of a sacrilege to me knowing somebody like you would cherish it as is. What I'll probably do is gingerly remove these OG covers, and then sell the covers. In the meantime, if you can find me an aero PAPYRUS middle seat...

I will have to keep an eye out, if only I was made of money I would try to straight buy it off you. Anything else you might be interested in trading? _________________ "Dammit, every time we have a sweet idea the government has to come and screw it up"-Kyle Broflowski

Quite a few have tried to buy it from me. If somebody will sell me an aero papyrus middle seat in similar or better shape, I'd buy it and sell this guy for the same amount...hence the trade thing. One guy even offered me obscene money...didn't go for it. The first day I bought my bus, and showed a picture here, a European member in here offered me a quick $5,000 profit. Money is only fun (for me) in proportion to how it can bring more smiles to my ever shortening life. Keep an eye on my classifieds, as I'm guessing the cover will be on there in a few months if that aero papyrus seat doesn't come my way. _________________ Looking for a correct 1967 rear seat

I will do that, I've been hunting the classifieds and craigslist, but split seats are astronomically expensive now. _________________ "Dammit, every time we have a sweet idea the government has to come and screw it up"-Kyle Broflowski
