Hi friends, so yesterday I went to start up my little beastie, got a small click from the starter (I believe) and then nothing...tried again and no sound at all. No headlights or other electrical stuff is working. Im guessing battery as it push starts fine, but its a new battery, so possibly a short? Checked starter connections and such, everything seemed ok. Any thoughts? I don't currently have voltmeter handy to check the battery juice :/
Thanks in advance!

You have to get a meter and test the battery both in its current state and under load. Charge the battery overnight if necessary and retest. Check for current draw with ignition off. You can test that with no battery in place and an ohmmeter as well by placing the ohmmeter across where the battery leads would have been and putting it on ohms. It should show an open circuit with the ignition off. _________________ 1958 Karmann Ghia owner |

How often do you drive ( and start ) the car? Some batteries can drain in a few weeks. If the car is kept outside, you might want to look into a solar trickle charger. |

I've received bad batteries that won't take a charge right from the shop. |

Hey friends, and thanks again for everything. Did some fiddling, and looks like I need to replace/adjust my generator belt...didn't notice it was so worn. |
