If you call them up and ask real nice, Wolfsburg West will sell you the little ivory end caps that go on your dash grab handle. |

Thanks MW, I'll ask next time I place an order.
Drove the bus a lot this weekend, having a blast. Here's a quick video I made:

I was on Cloud 9 riding around in Stuco's bus this evening. His bus is very nice and has a great story that goes with it.
Thanks a bunch! Real inspiration to get mine on the road. |

I cleaned up and painted (rustoleum smoke grey) the rusty headlight buckets. The parts to rebuild them are on the way.

I sanded the bumpers down and sprayed them with some Rustoleum Automotive Enamel. This will be an improvement in looks and protection until I get them straightened and painted properly.

Here the floors are being prepped for POR-15. Luckily my front floors are in pretty good shape. They will need some small patches by (and on) the A pillars and a couple other small repairs but otherwise they are pretty solid.
POR-15 applied:
I also had some pitted rust along the front apron bottom. It got the same treatment. I'm debating whether to paint the entire nose and driver's door along with the other places that really need it. I think I will leave it for now and think about it.

Thanks Jerry! Also, thanks for the spare rim you gave S-Bird to give to me. I really appreciate it! _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

The bus is coming along nicely stuco. They do offer the POR-15 in White is you can find it. I need the grey POR but can only find the White. |

Thanks Bill,
After wrestling with them for a while I finally got the headlight buckets rebuilt:

I blended the POR-15 with some Tower Paints pearl white (not a perfect match but it'll work). Please excuse the poor pic:

How did you get that damn lens seal to stay put? I tried for like an hour to put those on my bus before I gave up. Unless the WW seal is made wrong... _________________ 1967 13 Window Deluxe

I had a hard time with that too. You have to get it lined up perfectly and hold it firmly when getting the first couple clips in. And you probably know this but use the clips without the loop ends on the chrome rim/large headlight housing. The ones with the loop ends go on the headlight backing plate. Make sure the ribs on the seal are facing outward. There's a pic here that shows it:

This is an unnatural position to guess at when trying to figure it out as it seems more logical for the glass to fit the slot. Most get it upside down at first which won't work. Once you flip it to the outside then it's almost laughable how easy it goes together compared to before.
Nice job on those buckets. They look like NOS VW. |

You are absolutely right Barry, I did the same thing. Finally I googled it and that WW page popped up. _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

That antenna is an original Safari window specific antenna. Don't let anyone sweet-talk you out of it. Original ones are like hen's teeth!
You can bend it at the "waist" (the narrow part near the base) to get it to line up better with the "A" pillar, if you are so inclined. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

Cru62, I knew it was uncommon but I had only speculated that it was for a bus with safari windows, thanks for confirming that! It has the ruby red tip on it. I wonder why mine has the antenna and no safaris? _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust."

I've been working all day on the roof front rust. I took it down as far as I could, cleaned it with wax and grease remover and then treated it with phosphoric acid based metal prep. Then I sprayed a couple coats of primer:
