You're right they did. However mine came with just a piece only covering the speaker as you can see on my original speaker bracket pictured. |
This seems to have been consistent/true for Tourist Delivery of SO-42s during 1967.
Here's our original speaker grill cloth (1967 Westfalia SO-42):

Thanks DadaCheese, our buses are so very similar.
I installed the speaker/bracket. This bracket and speaker is absolutely the largest you could get in there. I had to unhook the passenger wiper arm behind the dash to get it to fit with the speaker. Also, I mounted it as far to the right as possible and it still pushes up hard against the radio. When I get the radio repaired I think I will cut just a little off the speaker bracket so it fits better.

I installed a second extinguisher by the driver's door. Now I have the 2 and the blazecut.

I'm supposed to be using my bus in a wedding this coming weekend so i went to change the oil and adjust the valves and found a surprise. Three of my cylinder studs were stripped in the case. I suppose if three have stripped the others may not be too far behind.
I debated on what to do but since I don't have time to strip it down and install case savers and rebuild it so I decided to use some oversized studs. Hopefully this engine gets me down the road for a little while longer until I can rebuild it or replace it.
One installed:
I'll clean everything up while it's out, its amazing how dirty an engine can get over a short period of time.
Also my oil cooler seems to be leaking (it has new seals in it) so I ordered one, just one more thing....

Installing new oversized stud:
Back in with engine and bay cleaned up:
Look what came a day late I'll pull the motor again soon and install the new cooler and do a few other things while it's out.
It made the wedding and ran great:

Think that to which you refer to is the aluminium/magnesium threads of the engine case that were pulled out by the head stud. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

I've been working on the hubcaps some.
I cleaned up these thick layers of paint on the backs:

Primed and then painted rustoleum smoke grey:

I went through the whole thread just now, great stuff, you are the right person to get the bus out of the trees. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. CB 044 heads, AutoCraft rockers, chromoly push rods

These two are almost done. This pic makes the emblems look greenish but they are blue. I used a brush:

Just a small update. I let the hubcaps cure for about a month and finally put them on. I need to paint the wheels white at some point.

Wow steady hand Pinetops, nice job. What is that metal u-shaped or upside-down staple shaped rod welded to your bumper? I was thinking a step of sorts and is it stock?

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |

Thanks. The metal brackets on the front bumper are still a mystery to me. They are in an odd position if you actually wanted to use them as a step but they look like they could be stock. They are bolted on. _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |
