nice! I really like the way it looks with the blue front emblem and on the hub emblems.. balances really well. awesome bus and build! |
Thanks! That's what I was going for with the matching emblems, nothing too crazy but a small custom touch on a stock bus. _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

Thanks. The metal brackets on the front bumper are still a mystery to me. They are in an odd position if you actually wanted to use them as a step but they look like they could be stock. They are bolted on. |
can you post a pic of how they bolt on? could it be they are installed backwards? |

: ) I haven't seen another bus with them so it very well could be a homemade deal. They did a clean job of it if so. I can't think of any reason for them other than if you had a front roof rack you could stand there. Toilet paper holders? _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

Love the bus pinetops - what ever happened to the roof rack? |
I replaced the wood on it and now it stays on the bus. I need to find one original clamp at some point and the one missing Westfalia tag.

Pulled the motor to get it ready for the "season".
I need to change the oil cooler, fuel lines, tune up, etc.
I already checked the head studs and they are holding firm I'm happy to say. The intake manifold was loose though which is odd.

Enjoyed following your posts. I also own a 67 SO42 and brings me excitement to try and work on mine more when I see others like yourself doing the same.
Keep up the great work!

Thanks, I just checked out some of your gallery. Our buses are near twins!
It helps motivate me to see other people's work too, it's also entertaining and educational. I try to post even if nobody is responding because I figure there are some following anyway.

German braided hose after 2.5 years. I used almost exclusively non-ethanol fuel. It held up pretty well overall, it's a little more stiff than new and a little dry and starting to crack on a couple of the ends. So even with mostly 100% gas I would plan on changing them every 2 years. I may switch to Gates barricade next time, or maybe not.
Here's an end, if you look closely at the upper right you can see where it's starting to get dry and crack.

I used this cool spark plug cleaner.
Here's a blurry before/after:
Mostly buttoned up:
Replaced oil cooler
Torqued heads (they were good)
New fuel lines
Oil Change
Adjust Valves
Clean engine and compartment
etc

Nice work.. Has that original Bosch distributor ever been serviced? Might be a good time to freshen it up. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]
