Have any of you removed the chrome trimming and all its goodies from the front doors around the windows before spraying and how difficult is the process, or do you just tape up the trimming before spraying the doors.

thanks,

I removed them. It was much easier than taping and i'm sure the result is better too. Do you have a 2-door/Variant or a 4-door car?
In 2-door models remove the clips that cover the ends of the trim. The upper part is a felt rail and has both outer and inner trim attached to it. The rail comes out by gently pulling it starting from the front. Lower trim is in two separate pieces, inner and outer. There are some clips that hold the trim in place. Be careful when lifting the trim as it may bend and the clips may be rusty and get cracked.

thanks, I have the 2dr 412 variant, I also prefer removing the trimming to spray the doors.

if I look on the inside of the door I see a clip over the trim and on the outside I have not checked. Do the clips pop off.
I've done it before on a Bay window bus but they don't have chrome trimming all the way around the window on the inside and out.

Yes.....well put. You just have to be patient with this part. The clip is very similar to the clip on the front and rear windshield trim. I have found that if you can get it to slide a little first....it pops off easier. Ray
